Should Vuode and M-M merge in some kind of union of equals?

Yes
No

Continuing the brief conversation that began on ProBoards over to here...

What would our redlines and demands be?
What would we be willing to let go of?
How could we ensure that the spirit of Vuode stays alive post-merger?

I agree with everything Etho said in the other thread.

I would say that we invite M-M to an accord to address whether there is a desire in both provinces to proceed forward and an outline on how to proceed.  Two individuals shall represent each province, and we will issue a joint report to the Governments of each province advising of how discussions on a merger should proceed.

Hopefully, this will set the tone for negotiations and what a new constitution will look like. That, of course, is a redline for me--a new constitution that is written by an equal number of representatives from both provinces. We are not being absorbed into another provinces, but merging as equals.

Yep, that would be a redline for me too.  Both provinces would need to retire their constitutions and adopt a new third way.  Vuode won't just become a Canton of M-M and vice versa.

In the absence of any more discussion, I think MM is ready to move forward

I'm so inclined to say yes. But I just voted, and it's now 2:1 for. I don't know if they will, but I'd like the person to reach out to Etho or me or publicly discuss their opposition. But, if nothing in the next few days, I'd venture to say that we're ready for formal talks.

Same here.  I'd like to hear the non-voter argue their case before moving forward.  If they do not wish to do so publicly, they could send one of us a PM that we could post on their behalf so they remain mostly anonymous?

Apparently it's now 3-0. But Id still rather hear their concerns.
