That was just a warm-up loss. I'll try to be a little harder to beat for my next opponent. (Throws chess books in the trash)

Stupid question as I've never used Lichess for anything but computer games before (and only briefly), and I feel there's something obvious that I'm missing when I'm looking at the site. Can I set up the game ahead of time?

Basically you challenge someone either by clicking "play with a friend" or by going to their profile and clicking the challenge button and then clicking what side you are suppose to play (after putting in the correct settings). Using the first method you then get a link to send or you can fill in their profile name.

The game starts when they accept the challenge.

I don't really know how long a challenge lasts before it expires. I imagine you probably can't set it up a very long time in advance, but not sure.

If anyone has trouble with the game settings on lichess:

variant: standard
time control: real time
minutes: 10 (unless you made other agreements)
increment: 5  (unless you made other agreements)
casual/rated: I'd probably go with casual unless youve agreed with your opponent to play rated. It doesn't really matter.
And then pick the icon with the colour you're supposed to play.

I was trying to get done with all my mistakes in the first game. I have plenty of mistakes stored up, it turns out.

Congrats Ian. First one to finish a game without any blunders. I enjoyed sneakily watching along there.
