Requesting a volunteer for EC appointment

Fellow senators,

it falls upon me to appoint one of you to serve on the electoral commission to assist with approving the rules and verifying the results of the upcoming general elections (March 15th - April 1st).

I have to appoint someone who is not an officer of a political party and whose seat is not up for re-election (or who is retiring, but I think it's preferable to appoint someone whose seat isn't up at all).

Hear ye, hear ye,

The senator for Maritiimi-Maxhestic, @Sir Ian Plätschisch, is hereby appointed as a member the Electoral Commission for the April 2025 General Election, representing the Senäts. I'd like to express my thanks on behalf of the Senate to Sir Ian for his willingness to serve on the commision. It is very important that members of the Electoral Commission are competent and trustworthy and I'm sure we can all agree Sir Ian has both of these qualities.

I will communicate this appointment to the Secretary of State.
