So are you going to see them?

I'm afraid I have to admit I fumbled my chance to do so. We were at a festival in Belgium and for some reason they were scheduled in a tent and not at the main stage. We had actually seen the band that was scheduled at the same stage before (another scottish band incidentally. One that sir Ian also likes.), but there was an hour in between so we left the tent. Outside was a big screen showing the worldcup quarterfinal between Belgium and Brazil. Belgium was leading by one goal and everyone was getting quite excited, so we wanted to see the end of it, but then when we got back to the tent to see Franz Ferdinand, it was full :(. There were screens outside and you could still sort of hear them from outside, but thats not really the same experience. We did regret that.

My favourites from the semifinal didn't make it, but even so the final is really strong this year. Close to my favourite TMT final so far.

Lots of nice discoveries this year too. The ones that stuck with me the most were
- I Love You (I definitely overlooked how good this was when voting on round 1, partly because I don't usually pay much attention to lyrics)
- Mary on a Cross
- Hera Koka Hasz LSD (amazing performance)
- Antitaxi (I went to France in february with family and I made sure this was included in our driving playlist)
- Vacanze Romane (at least I think this was a discovery?)
, but I also liked Pizza, Slum Planet, ohmygod, Games (but the version without lovelytheband), Black Hole, Cheri Cheri Lady, Triangolo and several others. Unfortunately, automatic nominations include several of my all time favourite songs and it usually takes me several listens, and some time, to really appreciate something I didnt know before, so often I don't get around to giving these points (just like Death of Me, which according to spotify ended up being my most listened to song of 2024, but at the time I think I just gave it a single point in round 1).

Too early for predictions maybe, but I was surprised Roam didn't make the final. I'd be even more surprised if it didnt make the top 20

Going to try, although my wife is ambivalent about going...

Unfortunately we can't take any more nominations this year, since we are currently voting on the final round. The good news is that you still have about 15 hours left to vote on that.

Make sure to save these for next time.
