By far the two strongest groups this round. How to even deal with this?

Well then, 'tis the 2020 comeback of stack alerts and rigged group protests.

The most stacked groups this round are yet to come though.
I've realized over the years how different my music taste is compared to other voters; almost every time I think a group is stacked, others complain that it is weak.

Well, groups are meant to be balanced as far as last year's results in addition to new nominations that tend to be favoured by those who nominated them. It would be weird if everyone considered a group to be strong or weak.

As far as musical taste goes, I won't deny that on average (with several exceptions of course) we seem to have different preferences, probably to a greater degree than say me and Lüc or Sir Cresti, (though of course there are also some of my more niche picks that strangely enough nobody seems to enjoy, oh well). Still, I enjoy listening to the stuff you come up with that I've never heard of before.

Sir Ian Plätschisch

GROUP 9
3 - Muse - Knights of Cydonia
2 - Marty Robbins - Big Iron
1 - The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA

GROUP 10
3 - First Aid Kit - My Silver Lining
2 - Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
1 - B.T. Express - Express
Sir Ian Plätschisch, UrN, GST

Éovart Andrinescù

Group 9

3 – Bob Dylan, 'Queen Jane Approximately' (I probably should've nominated 'Like a Rolling Stone' instead but oh well)
2 – Marty Robbins, 'Big Iron' (this should be our national anthem)
1 – EW&F, 'Boogie Wonderland' (anyone else like Intouchables?)

Group 10

3 – B.T. Express, 'Express'
2 – Mozart, 'Requiem'
1 – Curtis Mayfield, 'Move On Up'

Glüc

9.
Knights of Cydonia - 3
Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors - 2 (would have gotten 3 points in most groups)
Office Work - 1 (Based on the sample. Just preordered the album download.)
HM: Horizon (among several others that I wanted to give points to).

10.
Spieluhr - 3
My Silver Lining - 2
Sweet Dreams - 1
HM: Move On Up
Also, Requiem might have gotten points if it was just the Lacrimosa bit. Still feel the whole piece is probably too long for this format. Also, Eiric gets bonus points for nominating Eurovision songs.

I love Eurovision.  I make it a point to try and listen each year to see what I'm missing out on and expand my catalog.  Kind of excited to see how the American Song Contest franchise is going to work.

G9
3 The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA
2 Bob Dylan - Queen Jane Approximately
1 Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland

G10
3 Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
2 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Requiem Mass in D minor
1 Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up

Sir Lüc

Both not quite stack alerts but I agree they are the strongest groups yet.

GROUP 9
3 - Marty Robbins - Big Iron
2 - Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland
1 - Muse - Knights of Cydonia
(and at least 2 honorary mentions)

GROUP 10
3 - Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
2 - Pietro Mascagni - Intermezzo (Cavalleria Rusticana)
1 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Requiem Mass in D minor

I agree the Requiem is too long for TMT20 - not sure I'd restrict it to Lacrimosa though, there's plenty of other stuff that would be in the running. (Also, I kind of wish I had nominated something by Verdi now.)

Editors getting only 2 points and being kicked out after 5 years is somewhat sad. Definitely one my of my all time favourite songs.

In other news though, all six songs coming from the special edition went through, most of them quite comfortably. (And for two categories these weren't even the winners.) I think it's nice that we managed to pick songs that hold up even outside their category.
