Whereas, the Kingdom of Talossa is committed to the principles of international justice, human rights, and the rule of law, and
Whereas, the International Criminal Court (ICC) serves a pivotal role as an institution prosecuting individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression, and
Whereas, the effectiveness of the ICC relies on the cooperation of states who are parties to the Rome Statute in executing arrest warrants and facilitating the extradition of individuals indicted by the Court, and
Whereas, the arrest and prosecution of national leaders under ICC indictment and accused of serious international crimes are essential steps toward accountability and deterrence.

Therefore, be it resolved that it is the Sense of the Ziu of the Kingdom of Talossa that:

QuoteTalossa affirms its support for the Rome Statute and the mission and work of the International Criminal Court, and
Talossa recognizes the importance of international cooperation in enforcing ICC arrest warrants, including those issued against sitting or former national leaders.
Talossa encourages all nations to respect their obligations under the Rome Statute by cooperating fully with the ICC, including the arrest and surrender of indicted individuals, and
Talossa encourages cooperation by all nations to assist with the bringing to justice of specifically of currently indicted leaders such as Vladimir Putin of the Russia, Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan, Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar, and Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant of Israel (relatedly we note the indictment of the believed-to-be-deceased Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif), and
Talossa stands resolute in its solidarity with victims of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of agression in Ukraine, Sudan, Palestine, Myanmar and around the world and supports efforts to bring perpetrators to justice, regardless of their position or status.

No, another mission is to annoy curmudgeons until it is determined to be a new crime...

Sir Ian is NOT a curmudgeon. He is a reactionary. Very different.

More seriously, I generally abstain on nonsense like this, even where I agree with it, because in my experience Talossans have enough fights about Talossan stuff without trying to pick them over extra-Talossan stuff.

You will be happy to know that we probably have similar opinions about what is happening in Palestine right now. Nor do I have positive feelings about any of the leaders mentioned in the bill.

I have always found "reactionary" to be an interesting word, in that it implies the "reactionary" lacks a positive case for their own position and exists solely in opposition.

This continues to be an odd stance to me (calling it nonsense especially) and fits within a spectrum of Talossan isolationism I (and the Green Party) strenuously oppose.

King Txec

Has the kingdom ever affirmed the ICC or the Rome Statute? This Sense aims to reaffirm so I'm wondering if we've done this before.

Excellent point and thanks King, I am unsure we have. I have edited to "affirm the Rome Statute" just in case.

Look, GV keeps calling me a liberal, I just have to accept that other people use their own vocabulary :D
