Sir Lüc

Azul all,

I would like to announce that the Chancery will held a legally required biannual Census during the upcoming month of September. The Census will be open for responses from September 1st to September 30th; the Chancery will send out a mass mailer on September 1st.

The Census will be hosted on TalossaDB (aka the new database still without a proper name or official launch). Answering the Census should be relatively quick and straightforward and should be doable from both a PC and a mobile device.

In the meantime, you can read a FAQ about the Census here:

This might get updated later, as will the rest of the Citizenship and Census part of the Database, which has received a few updates over the last month. I would like to thank @Marcel Eðo Pairescu Tafial, UrGP for his help in translating the Census so that questions are available in both English and Talossan.

The Census is now open for responses and citizens are being notified via email as I type this.

Please use this thread to report any issues with the website.

I am pleased to report there are already 49 answers to the Census, and I can spot at least a few who did not vote in the most recent General Elections. 316 individual answers to optional questions were given, meaning at least two in three people answered at least a question (most likely more than that).

People who, in the mandatory part, entered a different primary email than the one the Chancery holds are advised this change will be made as the Chancery processes the Census results, early in October.

I have just sent out a round of reminders for the citizens who have not returned the Census yet. There's still around 2 days and 9 hours left to answer the Census as of me posting this.

Prior to the reminder being sent out, 64 responses have been recorded, which is pretty much a 50% return rate - pretty good considering it's not a political poll and therefore there's nobody doing GOTV.

So far, out of those 64 responses, 40 answered 8 or more optional questions, 2 answered fewer, and 22 answered none.

Unfortunately, I cannot take the census because the system does not recognize my credentials.

Azul! You don't need any credentials to take the Census. Simply head on over to https://database.talossa.com/citizenship/census/2025-census, click on "Answer the Census" and fill in the form!

(Also, please note that Wittenberg credentials do not work on the Database anyway, though we would like to unify the experience in the future, especially as we move from SMF to Discourse. Dan T has recommended using LDAP, though I had to postpone implementing that as I was time-constrained by the previous General Election.)

The Census is now closed. Many thanks to the 76 citizens who responded. The Chancery will process and release the aggregated results in the next few days, and will update the privacy preferences as directed by the mandatory section as well.

Azul, I am glad to release for public consumption the following document, containing a brief report on the Census, as well as the aggregated results for the non mandatory demographic questions.

The Chancery will move on to processing any required changes resulting from the answers to the mandatory part in the following days.

Thank you @Sir Lüc for the well written report and running the latest census. As a former Secretary of State I can understand the challenges a census puts on the Chancery.

Thank you your Majesty; it was a pretty interesting challenge. I'm already looking forwards to apply what I've learned to the next Census and to the upcoming GE.

Excellent work, it is always nice to see these summaries that show a portrait of the nation. It might be interesting to compare data across multiple censuses to see how the nation is changing.
