@Antaglha Xhenerös Somelieir Congratulations on your appointment as the Humanitarian Aid PermSec. I wanted to ask whether the recipient mentioned in this resolution might be an organization you would recommend to the Government?

As to 62RZ16, BHAID: Humanitarian Assistance to Sudan Resolution, I vote contra.  At the urging of the bill's sponsor, the government has recently appointed someone to make themselves an expert in humanitarian aid and recommend how we should distribute the funds, and I don't want to immediately undermine her.

Nearly three weeks ago, before moving forward with this bill for Clarking, I asked this very question to the new PermSec for Humanitarian Aid.

I received no response.

Hmmm, very disappointing that the Seneschal by his recent vote appears to be confirming he has not received any advice from the new PermSec for Humanitarian Aid. We are well past the third month since their appointment. I will let voters decide whether this is acceptable.

Unfortunately the Sentient Rights Act has failed again. I know some may think it an odd hobbyhorse but it is regrettably the frontier of rights-formation and recognition. Because it is connected to a fundamental belief I will continue to promote and resubmit it. And with patience, trust that with time and wisdom my fellow Talossans will get there eventually.

May speciesism suffer the same fate as racism, homophobia, classism, and all the other -isms that continue to afflict the world.
