I play a lot so Windows is the best option. Just never upgrade to Windows 11 ever, if you can.
Also, MacOS is pretty nice, we use it at work for video and photography stuff.

A good chunk of my friends use Linux but every time they open it they say "it's pretty cool and easy, you only have to (bunch of terminology I'm not used to listening)" so I never quite got it.

What if you get a new device though? I mean in early August I got a Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 which obviously had Windows 11 preinstalled. I will say that it is a nice operating system and users in the European Union can uninstall preinstalled programmes and apps and stuff. Windows 11 is much more optimised for touchscreens, will say that.

Also, good to see you posting again :)
It's scary and disturbing how well and accurately Orwell predicted today's world.

I personally have Windows 11 on my laptop, which effectively is my work machine, and Linux Mint on my desktop, which I largely use for gaming. I did run Linux-only for some time until August 2023, when I smashed my old laptop that was running Pop! OS. Since I had to urgently get back to work on the new laptop, I kept Windows 11 (with some debloating tweaks) and never replaced it since, mostly because of laziness and being afraid some work stuff won't run on Linux.

My application server runs Ubuntu Server and my NAS runs TrueNAS (which is either BSD or Debian, idk)

I am considering getting a Macbook at some point to get the most of both worlds on top of the excellent battery life and build quality.
