Job Opportunity in Florencia

So, I don't know how many people have been following this, but Florencia needs a Governor.

To that end, under the province's current Constitution, they need someone who meets the following requirements:

1) NOT the current King, the current Constable of Florencia, a current judicial officer of Talossa, or a current member of the Talossan Senate.

2) Has experience as at least one of the following:
__a) Member of Florencia's House of Shepherds for the whole duration of a previous term.
__b) Member of the Cosa of Talossa for four months.
__c) Member of the Senate of Talossa for one month.

3) Has the confidence of the House of Shepherds -- which, given its current composition, is to say, can get the approval of Mximo Carbonèl, who personally holds a large majority in that body.

Note in particular that as the vacancy has lasted more than eight days, you do NOT need to be a Florencian to qualify.

Anyone who wishes to work with us on revisiting the Constitution of Florencia will have my full support.

The idea of appointing a person from outside Florencia to lead the committee on constitutional reform for Florencia would, in my view, be ideal. Someone from outside the province would naturally assume the role of an impartial arbiter in the drafting of a new constitutional text.

My opposition to you know who stems from private discussions I have had with many Talossians on this issue, discussions that have, of course, shaped and strengthened my position over time.

The two principal figures in Talossa—namely, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition—share my view that we need somebody else.

You should not interpret my "No" vote in the confidence vote as a position of closure, but rather as one of openness. Florencia deserves a Governor who will have not only the confidence of the Chamber of the Province of Florencia, nor merely my own support, but the confidence of the Kingdom of Talossa as a whole.

If I may offer a solution to the issue, I would be happy to serve my southern neighbors as either their Governor, the chair of their constitutional reform committee, or both.

I meet at least criteria 1 and 2 above. #3 is of course yet to be determined. I have experience serving as a province's chief executive, and would abstain from using my ex officio Nimlet seat in order to keep decisions that affect the Florencian people in their own hands.

As to the constitutional reform aspect, I can point to my recent role as the author of the new Belacostan constitution as a qualification. From an outside perspective, it would seem the people of Florencia have multiple viable paths for reform, so long as any of these have the legitimacy of popular democratic support.

Works for me. Florencia needs constitutional reform ASAP and any individual or party committed to democracy above and beyond personal feelings likely sees that. If an external appointment is the only alternative to appointing an active member of the Nimlet like myself then so be it.

Recognizing Miestra's latest political commentary (provincial mergers) I also support an effort to reunite Florencia with Belacosta.

Your proposal makes sense. It would allow the party to engage in a more constructive and substantive debate within the framework of a Constitutional Reform Committee.

I do not have sufficient mastery of written English to draft a constitution myself. However, I wish to participate in this process, and I believe that many individuals with a strong interest in constitutional reform and legal matters could join the committee as experts and consultants.

The position of Governor should perhaps be subject to election during general elections. This would relieve the Crown of the burden of having to make inherently political choices.

I remain opposed to any form of provincial merger. Our participation rate ranked third out of eight provinces in the last elections. Moreover, the Nacho-shaped province has already rejected this idea several years ago.

More, the recent attempt by a citizen of the province to seek judicial intervention further demonstrates that our constitution no longer fully respects the current judicial order. I would have welcomed a ruling from the Court, but the juge was unable to adjudicate the matter an unusual and troubling situation in my view.

In conclusion, I welcome your proposal and would support your candidacy both as Governor and as Chair of the Constitutional Reform Committee. I leave it to the Greens to introduce a motion, once the House is reopened, to formally establish the Constitutional Reform Committee. Should it be necessary, I will propose amendments when the time comes.

With a neutral Chair leading the committee, we will then be able to fully assume our partisan roles without constantly placing the Crown in the position of having to arbitrate political disputes.

Let peace come to our province again.
