Proposal: Establishing Talossan Army

I would like to propose the establishment of a Talossan Army as a new institution within the Kingdom of Talossa.

While Talossa already has a Navy, I believe establishing an Army would be an interesting and enjoyable step towards strengthening our identity and developing our existing defence structure.

The proposed Army could initially operate as a ceremonial, administrative and organisational institution, with opportunities for military traditions, ranks, uniforms, training programmes and national service.

I would be interested in discussing this proposal with fellow citizens and the government and The Crown.

If we are to expand our military I hope we will also give consideration to expanding our peacebuilding capabilities. Perhaps a version of what Gandhi called a "Shanti Sena." I am not opposed to military institutions but want to encourage us to develop both our defensive and peacebuilding capabilities.

Isn't the ZAR basically all of that already?

The Zouaves of the Royal Bodyguard (While they are the "royal bodyguard,")...

I think they(ZAR and Army) are not same at all.

The difference between the ZAR and a regular army would be the sorts of situations each would be intended to respond to. Talossa, as it currently exists, doesn't have situations where that sort of distinction is necessary, and the ZAR already does all the ceremonial, cultural and administrative stuff you mentioned.

This has been a topic of conversation for years, and aside from the existence of the Royal Talossan Navy and the Zouaves, the topic of an "Army" has always died, and for good reason imho.

I live in a slight fear macronational authorities would come across this or some other Talossan forum, see the existence of an "army" and make it out to be the seeds of some insurgent movement.  The Navy and the Zouaves, not so much.

For now, I would vote against such a thing as the Talossan "army".  The "military" we have is more than we need, and the United States of America is a nice buffer-state between us and the existential menace that is Canada.

I'm against Talossa having an army. I just don't see the purpose of us having one if we're unrecognised on the international arena.

If we were recognised, as a pacifist, I would still be against us having an army and would personally instead push to handle everything diplomatically and avoid conflicts as much as possible.

However I see the Zouaves as an integral part of Talossa and would like for those to remain as they are and retain their function with no military involvement at all.

I miss the navy, but in a cost of living crisis, boats are expensive...

I kinda more see them akin to the red guards kinda vibe, the cultural, tradition army,  rather then the murder, stab, ak47 army

Fun fact: the Spanish royal body guards are Irish, the Vatican city is The Swiss guards, Constantinoples was ligit Vikings. Maybe we should have the ZARs take in Members from another micronation or join another micronation and become the bodyguards of each others royal family.

Could a "army" be cyber based in someway? I donno, we could do some ethical hacking or somthing? Im sure we have a code monkey in here or two somwhere?

Cyber attacks, downed wikis? Isn't out state almost entirely digital at this point in so many ways that it is worth having it defended?

Considering the overall response, I have decided to drop the proposal for establishing a Talossan Army.Thank you to everyone who shared their views and feedback.
