Thanks, all! I'm grateful for your help and support, and I'm honored to be a citizen of Talossa.

Azul.
My question is: What is your favourite school subject?

Well. It's rather hard to beat Mr. Taiwos's answer, for impact at least:

My favorite school subject was Anna Pham. She sat across from me in English class. I studied her every move. She smelled nice. Alas, I never got up the bravery to ask her out. She was killed in a botched gas station robbery attempt, so now I'll never know if she would've gone out with me.

My (much more prosaic) answer, though, is: English usually, although I have been on occasion seduced away by history.

Many thanks for the kind welcome, all. It's clear that Talossans are quite a musical people. To GV, gratüleschiuns! (And apologies if I'm mangling el Glheþ.)

I only just recalled another possibly germane hobby of mine: I've always had something of an interest in heraldry, and I've designed a few coats of arms for friends, family, acquaintances, etc., in my time. Would anyone know what system of rules Talossan heraldry generally follows, and how I might be able to get involved therewith?

(Also: I realize I'm probably putting the cart before the horse a bit here, but I'd be interested to know how, and where, one gets one of those nifty Talossan names people have.)

Thanks, all, for your kindness and your help. Oc'halà, I look forward to joining you as a fellow Talossan soon.

I must say it'd been a while since I last read a truly engaging essay. Benvenescu à Talossa, Hal! I hope you'll indeed stick around.

If I may, how long have you been lurking for? We do have quite a bit of citizens who have lurked on Witt (for extensive periods of time, even!) before getting around to applying.

What instrument(s) do you play? Edit: wait, the oboe. I misread that last bit as "try to learn the oboe".

Thanks! I've been lurking on and off for years, really--I got interested some years ago but ultimately never took the plunge; I remembered Talossa fairly recently when thinking of things to explore on the Interwebs whilst social distancing, and on returning I found myself, as they say, "hooked."

And re: instruments: on the contrary, you read it correctly the first time; I ought to have phrased it better, looking back. I have never attempted to play the oboe, but I have attempted other woodwinds, to largely disastrous results, and I have it on good authority that the oboe is not among the easier of the bunch. I used to play the euphonium, although I doubt I'd remember much if I picked it up now. I do sing and on occasion compose music using the trusty computer, and I am at present working on learning guitar and banjo, so we'll see how that goes.

Azul, all! Many thanks for the welcome. I look forward to getting to know some Talossans over the days to come, and to participating in what ways I can in the life of the Kingdom. I thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this community.

All the best,
Hal
