Do you want to be able to set your personal title?
Yes.

The current system is the way it used to be on ProBoards as well.
But seeing as we run the software, does that need to remain the case? If we're trusted enough to be in the Senats or the Cosa, it seems like letting us edit our own title isn't a huge risk.

The appearance of forum roles and personal titles (the two thingies under your username) have been tweaked.
Unless you're a mod or greater, personal titles isn't something you can set.

Azul,

Just a reminder that in each month where a Clark is published, I invite you to share your thoughts on any of the bills publicly in this forum or, optionally, in confidence by PM -- before the 15th of the month if possible.

Enough of the tantrum.  Get a grip, chief.
Classy.

Because we can't evaluate someone's suitability as a Talossan without knowing which province they'd be assigned to?

I probably would have highlighted the text copied from the old Witt and then pressed the Quote button on the toolbar.

I'll copy and paste that line below, highlight it and press Quote to demonstrate:
Quote from: SebI probably would have highlighted the text copied from the old Witt and then pressed the Quote button on the toolbar.

My name appears because you can modify the Quote tag to include it, like so:
[quote=Seb]

I might also suggest some spacing and/or horizontal rules between individual messages. One block there makes it looks like I might be the Party Leader of the Peculiar Nationalist Party (PNP).  ;D

Or, you could use the format button to highlight each copied message individually. Lots of boxes, but then the messages are all contained separately.

Anyway, the Bill as rewritten looks ok to me.
OK

OK, I made more progress on my Hearing questions than I anticipated, so I've edited the initial post to create a re-ordered and stripped down version of the bill.

Thoughts?

Residual disclosure is only an issue to fellow Talossans in this context, not to your macronational colleagues and neighbours.
I guess I'm not a peculiarist in that I expect Immigration data to be handled as would be done in a real country, which is why I apply the "reasonable person" test. As you point out, it's not possible for an applicant to see what types of information are posted on Witt prior to applying.

I want to work with you here.  Not against you.   But, for it to work, you will need to soften your stance and move towards the middle ground.
Great. I'm open to that. I'll revise it and let you know. This week is a little busy with the Committee Hearing.

Our current contact form is still a bait and switch. Talossa already has all an applicant's personal information by the time they are presented with the follow-up notice that it will be posted on Witt, in which case they might not have wanted us to have it in the first place. No fair warning.

Age is relevant, yes, if the applicant is a minor. Does the public need to know if the person is 19 or 64? No.

Regarding the other data points, sure, individually they appear harmless. However, in combination they aren't. Knowing the person's real name, city and state/province, age, and occupation makes it pretty trivial to track them down. This is called residual disclosure.

WHEREAS our immigration information disclosure practices fail the 'reasonable person' test in that a reasonable person would not assume that information provided to Talossan Immigration in confidence would be posted in plain sight of Talossan citizens on Wittenberg, and
WHEREAS this practice only becomes known to prospective immigrants after they have provided their personal information by way of a contact form, and
WHEREAS some prospective immigrants would redact some elements from their application or possibly even decline to apply for citizenship in the first place if they were aware that their information will be posted on Wittenberg

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the King, Cosâ and Senäts of Talossa in Ziu assembled that El Lexhátx E.11 shall be amended by addition of the following section:

11.5 At the time of the initial Immigration application, prior to submission of the form, the prospective shall be notified in writing that as part of the approval process their application will be posted on a forum where it can be viewed by existing citizens, excluding such personal contact information as their physical place(s) of residence, their email address(es), their phone number(s), and other details which are by law or which ought to be explicitly confidential.

Welcome to the Night Sky
by Wintersleep

Another one from my actual collection. I think this thread will only be full albums that I own and love.

"Weighty Ghost" and "Oblivion" were the singles I heard on alternative radio when this one was released. In the ~12 years since, this album is still a wellspring that I return to often, and it's all the amazing unreleased songs that give me the most joy.

I recall submitting "Dead Letter & the Infinite Yes" to at least one running of the Talossan Music Top 20, knowing full-well it wasn't the correct formula for the prize. Why? I thought you might listen to it and think, "Wow, this is dark. What the hell is this guy talking about?" In my opinion, it's probably the most beautiful and honest song about mental illness I've ever heard. Play it at my funeral.

I also hoped you might be curious enough to listen further, and in adding the Spotify link I'm doing it again. Start out with the singles, or play the whole thing all the way through without skipping. Turn the lights down. Lie still. Sip on a drink or vape or whatever. Grab the lyrics from Genius and try to follow along.

Earthly Days
by William Prince

While not a country fan by any stretch, I do love a good storyteller with folk stylings. That's William.

My wife  -- who dislikes and actively ridicules country music -- was  first to discover and recommend him to the family. We saw him live at the 2019 Ottawa Bluesfest and were utterly captivated. I bought his album because it's great, and because he deserves more than the fractional pennies that streaming services pay.

A warm baritone voice, earnest lyrics, beautiful songs. I could post an official video, but I think it's more telling to follow this up with one of his live performances. In the studio, he's the kind of artist that can nail it in one take, and it's clear that the studio offers no magic he doesn't already possess.

Good speech. Thumbs up from this minion.

If you do get another, please adopt a rescue dog. Lots of people want a puppy. It's the castaways that need a loving home.

My last 8 dogs (we've generally kept a pack of 3-4 at a time) were all adopted in the age range of 9 months to 3 years and gave our family lots of love in the 3.5-13.5 years they lived.

Our 5 year old Labrador died unexpectedly at the end of September and we're still feeling the loss. We got him from a kill shelter on December 19, 2015. Probably the saddest circumstances and the most rehabilitation we've ever endured in rescuing an animal, but I'd change nothing. Sometimes you get ~4 years. Sometimes you get ~14.  Every day with each of them was a gift. Well... is. We currently have two. Both were surrendered by people who didn't realize the responsibility of large breed dog ownership until they had 70 pound, partially-trained young adults rampaging the house.

Azul,

The Senate is in session effective today -- December 15th 2019/XL as per Standing Rule 1. However, as there is no Clark published for the month of December there is no vote this month.
