Have you been introduced to the Kingdom of Talossa by an existing citizen?
NO -

Do you have any previous experience with, or membership in, any "micronations"?
NO -

Is it okay if Talossan citizens contact you by e-mail?
NO

Is it okay if Talossan citizens contact you by telephone?
NO

About Myself:
I'm an engineer who enjoys working on cars, watching hockey, playing video games, and studying things like vexillology, heraldry, architecture, and numismatics.

Why I am Interested in Becoming a Talossan:
I've known (vaguely) of Talossa for some time, probably dating back to when I was in high school. I think the idea of a fairly tight-knit, serious yet also tongue-in-cheek community is rather appealing. Also I enjoy learning new languages, so Talossan represents a challenge to be mastered.

Azul everyone! [strike]Not sure if it's preferred I answer questions here or in the Prospective Citizens thread,[/strike] but good to be here either way!

helps if I read said thread, questionnaire incoming
"Rebellion against tyrants is obedience to god." - Thomas Jefferson

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, but your government only when it deserves it." - Mark Twain

King Txec

Welcome to Talossa! I am always excited to see prospective citizens! I am Txec dal Nordselvă and I'm the Secretary of State. I hope you feel welcome and we get to know you better!
TXEC R, by the Grace of God, King of Talossa and of all its Realms and Regions, King of Cézembre, Sovereign Lord and Protector of Pengöpäts and the New Falklands, Defender of the Faith, Leader of the Armed Forces, Viceroy of Hoxha and Vicar of Atatürk

Q1. Do you have a favorite sports team? Who and why?
The Boston Bruins! My dad is from Vermont, so I became a Sox fan by mandate — er, I mean, at an early age. When I went to college in upstate NY, I went to a hockey school, and got hooked, so I ported over the Boston support to the NHL.

Q2. What are your favorite hobbies during your free time?
As the name may imply, I enjoy fiddling around in the garage, when Wisconsin seasons permit. Otherwise, watching hockey, gaming, cooking, and spending time with my pets are probably what you can find me doing.

Q3. Pixar or Marvel?
Pixar. Marvel is good, but I'm a 90s kid, so it's not really close.

Q4. If you had the opportunity to live in the capital city of any sovereign nation, other than Talossa, which would it be and why?
Tough call. Finalists would be Berlin, Helsinki, and Tokyo, but Tokyo may take the edge simply because I find traditional Japanese architecture to be extremely pleasing to the eye.

Q5. How do you cut your sandwiches? Diagonally, not at all, or another shape? Maybe you take off the crust?
Grilled cheese, diagonally. Reuben, either diagonally or horizontally. Any other sandwich, not at all.

Q6. Do you have a favorite podcast to recommend?
I've never gotten into podcasts or really figured out the appeal, if I'm honest.

Q7. Apple or Android?
I guess since I use an iPhone, Apple, but I'm not exactly a partisan.

Q8. What is Talossa's most attractive feature? What brought you here?
Either the relatively serious attempts at creating a political system, or the rich history and symbology (I know Talossa shuns classification as a micronation, but as a point of comparison, how many micronations have ID cards? Yeah, probably not many.)

Q9. Which one of the Rocky movies is the best?
The last one, IV. Opening a can up on a Soviet is good, but the training montage takes the cake.

Q10. Skydiving, or deep-sea exploratory submarine?
Skydiving. I don't mess with what's in the depths. Better to leave them unexplored.

Q11. What is your favorite movie and why?
Back to the Future. I grew up with it. Whether I liked the car or the movie first is very much a chicken/egg question.

Q12. Do you have a favorite Avenger?
I feel like as an engineer I have to say Iron Man, but mostly from the older films. If not him, Cap.

Q13. What would be three books, articles, or other such materials that you would recommend to all of Talossa for reading?
The Southern Victory/Timeline-191 series by Harry Turtledove (11 books, but I'll count it as one suggestion since it feels like cheating otherwise)
Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryū Suzuki
Notes on the State of Virginia by Thomas Jefferson, because I'm biased towards where I grew up.

Q14. Who/what is your favorite music artist/band/genre?
I like most kinds of music but I think Daft Punk takes it, followed closely by Styx.

Q15. Are you a reader, a writer, a speaker, or a listener?
Reader and listener

Q16. What are your distinct and separate feelings on the colors of green, red, and pink?
Green: mixes with blue to form teal, or adds to red to make yellow. An important ingredient in the two best colors.
Red: Not my favorite, but a classic. Good power color.
Pink: I tend to avoid using pink where possible.

Q17. Do you have a favorite flavor of ice cream? If not, what is a favorite dessert?
Cookie dough. Favorite dessert overall would be either key lime or lemon merengue pies.

Q18. How do you feel about jam vs. jelly?
Both have their uses, but jam is preferred. For toast, marmalade or lemon curd beat all challengers.

Q19. Do you play any video games in your free time? Which?
Too many. My Summer Car, Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Skyrim, NHL 20, AoE2...I used to play FFXIV more but got out of it.

Q20. If you could eat an apple right now, or a pear, which would you rather?
Both are fine but if I had to pick, probably an apple.

My husband is Japanese so my interest was piqued by your affection for Japanese architecture and Tokyo. I have been a couple of times and would be really interested in your favorite architectural elements.

Welcome to the Kingdom and I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful journey for you.

Thank you!

As far as any favorite elements...fusuma/shoji are rather appealing. I like the idea of reconfigurable living space. I think overall I'm mostly drawn to how everything comes off as clean lines and lack of busy-ness (compared to, say, Victorian architecture) while still having a good amount of detail and "simple" ornamentation.

I actually have a few rough designs I've drawn up for a modern A-frame heavily inspired by a minka (traditional A-frame farmhouse).

I would love to see your designs. I am interested in architecture due to a love of Frank Lloyd Wright's designs.

Keep in mind they're done on engineering paper and are more just layouts, no renderings or anything lol

If I can find a few though I may put them up at some point

Oshkosh is about an hour from the GTA! In fact, I know I have set foot in Talossa at least once, I saw The Death of Stalin at Vuode's Landmark Downer Theater in 2017.

Speaking of Oshkosh, I believe that would end up putting me in Benito should I become a citizen, correct? Winnebago County.

Hi Mic'haglh, I've been asked to be your Talossa Assistant to help you with immigrating. My main piece of advice right now is to jump in and ask questions, interact with other citizens, and don't be afraid to do it! We are all pretty friendly and we want you to feel welcome.

Here's a question I thought of: is there a single place one can compare the policies of active political parties? Instead of digging through each party's wiki article, like just have one single chart.
