As the current Premier of Maricopa, it falls to me to open the nomination period for Premier.

The nomination phase will stay open for ONE WEEK. Voting will commence on April 10, 2022, as soon as the national election is concluded.

Hopefully this is the right place to ask this, but as the relative newcomer I feel obliged to ask, what exactly does the Premier do?
And follow up question, as candidates for Premier, what do you feel qualifies you for the office?

I ask because I intend to vote, and it looks like my vote may be the tie-breaker, but I have no idea where to start.

The Premieir is the titular chief executive of Maricopa. The only real powers the office has is that of opening the Cabana (our legislature to which ANY Maricopan can claim a seat), installing new members to our exclusive Order of Maricopa (our way of honoring our citizens), and chairing any session of the Cabana where legislation is presented.

I am a candidate for Premieir as a long-standing member of the Cabana. I created the Order of Maricopa several years ago, and have sponsored some legislation (though we rarely do much). I believe I am a good candidate because of my high profile in Talossa. I can (and do try to) bring prestige to our little province. As I am ineligible to directly affect national politics as the Secretary of State, and prior to that as a Justice (emeritus) of the Uppermost Cort. I've held numerous other posts nationally prior to that, including Seneschal.

I believe in Maricopa. Our province, the hottest spot north of Havana, our Cabana, and our open style of politics is almost unique among the provinces. We don't care a whit about party politics, and we do try to have some fun in our own "Maricopan" way!

Oh, and one more thing. The election for Premieir ends tomorrow, so your vote would be appreciated. We've never had a tie, as far as I can remember, so all it would do (I believe) is trigger a new election.
