Potential Reunision Celebration

Unless I am mistaken, which is always a possibility, 20 April, will be the ten-year anniversary of the Reunision proclamation by King John. This seems like a notable opportunity to celebrate Talossan unity.

This is an odd time for government administration with the ongoing negotiations and then needed transition but are there any plans by the outgoing Government to issue a proclamation or note the occasion?

Edited to add: Or any private initiatives to celebrate?

You know, that would be an excellent idea. You will no doubt understand that I'm distracted at the moment. But I would like to suggest that @GV, the other most active Reviensadeir, would be the ideal person to take charge of such commemorations - also seeing as it's the 10th anniversary of the Free Province of Fiovă.

I think a videoconference-party is in order.  Reunision took place 20 April 2012.  I am free that evening and can put the Zoom call together.

If the 'cool kids' are using a different videoconferencing system, I can work with that, too.

Maybe we can do something more than just do a Zoom call?  Not that it wouldn't be fine, but maybe we could set up some kind of event beyond that?

Like we could see about getting a recorded speech from Miestra and Litz, for example.  Or His Majesty.  Maybe have something made and placed in a ceremonial location in the homeland.

April 20th is a Wednesday. Would it perhaps make more sense to do it on a Friday or Saturday?

(If we do hold it to the 20th, I will likely be unable to participate, as April 20 is D:na Autófil's birthday.)

For $400 we can sponsor a tree permanently in a Milwaukee park, for example.  Or $250 for a personalized brick at the Milwaukee Humane Society.  That's a little extravagant, I think (although it might be appropriate someday) but maybe there's something similar but less pricey we can do?  Like maybe there's something similar with library donations, and we could maybe put together a donation of $100 in honour of Reunision.  Or if even smaller than that, for $25 we can adopt an artifact from the historical society of the city in Art's name: https://milwaukeehistory.net/adopt-an-artifact/

As fate would have it, on April 20 I would be unable to participate because I am hosting a traveller from the GTA - not a citizen himself, but he is at least an acquaintance of an Old Growther.

Any updates here?
This seems like an important anniversary for Talossa to commemorate.

I will pledge $25 towards any such eventuality.  I am not sure if there is something that could be done within the boundaries of the GTA?  Another idea would be to get someone to fly a kite in the GTA on that date - there is a store in the Veterans Park area https://www.giftofwings.com/ a kite with Talossan colors and the flight captured on video for all to see?  Or a flag being raised within the GTA similar to what is shown in the recent anthem interpretation ?

We could also donate to Discovery World, a museum (I think in Maritiimi-Maxhestic) which allows people to do things like sponsor a species: https://www.discoveryworld.org/get-involved/giving/

Adopting an artifact would be unique and non-costly too.

That's $50 right there, and I'm not even in the government. Imagine what could happen with some official leadership and energy behind this! Let's get it going.

Lots of people up in here keen on spending Government money, lol; the Finance Minister has been made aware.

I must say, even though I already said I'm not in a position to contribute much, I don't feel comfortable about all this stuff being proposed as part of a "Reunision" celebration without Reviensadeirs being actively involved - especially with a deadline of 16 days from now. I would actually suggest that a lot of it is a celebration of Talossan nationhood per se, and therefore might be better for an Independence Day commemoration at the end of the year?

Anyway, lest we forget the reason for the season

I'm not sure anyone at all has proposed spending government money? So far two citizens have pledged $25 of their personal funds to a project of this nature.

But okay, I'll leave it alone and stop suggesting ideas and planning. I hope something does happen, though.

I agree with Baron Davinescu. I hope something does happen to commemorate the reunification of the Talossan family too. Even if it is just a proclamation from the outgoing Seneschal or the incoming one marking the event. My offer of personal funds stands as I think Reunision is worth celebrating.
