As a nerd of sorts it has been a pleasure to learn more about animatronics with Vit Axhairsegol, who I would call the Kingdom's leading animatronics expert and enthusiast. Animatronics first started with a movie you might know well, Mary Poppins. The 1964 movie featured a bird which was the first cinematic example of animatronics.  You may have watched this movie without knowing its relationship to a field which you probably think about even less. Ever taken your child to Chuck E. Cheese? Well then you have had another experience with animatronics. While the field is currently the focus of amusement currently there is talk of its use in other fields such as military training and nursing. This progression into other fields of service for animatronics is a focus of the world's largest animatronics company, Garner Holt Productions. We may be far from the wonders of Westworld but animatronics is a fast developing and exciting field.
