Azul!
My uschor and I are bit of a cafè maniäcs and we have a collection of brewing methods.

Manual methods: Moka pot, V60, Chemex, Aeropress, French Press
Semi-manual method: An Espresso machine which recently broke, thus forcing us to use the manual methods listed before

So I was wondering, what is your go-to method for drinking cafè?

Also, at what hours do you usually drink it?

I usually just have drip coffee or a Cuban dried espresso called Cafe Cubano.
And always just after finishing at the gym and arriving at the office around 0900.

I tried Cafecito Cubano once and it was amazing, truly a great cultural contribution to the world.

I use to have a Moka pot but I never got the brew right. I had a French Press before it fell off the counter and smashed into pieces. I think I'll purchase another one at some point. I hear the V60 is a good brewer. Maybe I'll look into getting one of those.

Still can't beat a cafe for a good brew. I like a good cappuccino every once in awhile. I typically drink coffee in the morning or early afternoon.

I don't drink enough coffee to really have a preferred method for brewing it -- normally I would simply drink what was made at the office, because I don't drink enough for it to really be economical to make at home.

However, if I had the money to splurge, I would go Chemex. Not sure if it's because of anything coffee-related, or if it's simply my love of mid-century design coming through. Any pros/cons of Chemex coffee?

My office has a very nice coffee machine, but at home I usually just drink Stok cold brew coffee (when I have coffee, which isn't too often)

Chemex is my prefered method, I think some coffees as they're aging become dull but the method brings it back to life.

Chemex is also the method that lets you taste all the hidden notes from a bean. I remember the first time I tried some coffee with the moka pot and then made it with the Chemex, my mind was blown. Moka pot felt like "oh yeah, this is good strong coffee" but chemex felt like "what happened? Is this another coffee? Tastes like fruits and marshmellow". It is great, honestly.

Cold brew is always right. Haven't tried Stok's but looks great too. Reading about it makes me want to try some now haha.

I saw an internet meme that people who use Moka pots are Hoxhaists. If so,

I usually have drip coffee in the morning around 0800 when I go to work and then I have a moka pot (which I always call a bialetti) that I use to make a latte around 1400-1500. Not everyday but most days..

I've never used the chemex method but I'll have to check that out. I do like my coffee on the strong side.

If you like strong coffee I don't know if I'd recommend the Chemex/V60 since it's method that brings up the undertones of coffee, like the fruits or nutty flavors hidden in the beans. BUT if you like strong flavors I'd recommend trying something like 25-30g of ground coffe for 250/300ml of water. (Baristas usually use 15-18g per 300ml) That way it will be strong and full of flavor.

I also believe making cold brew at home is a great way to have strong balanced great boosting coffee in the afternoon. The easiest method for me is to put a 1000ml of cold water and mix 80g of ground coffee in the water. Let it rest for a day (even in the fridge) and then filter it with any paper filter you have at hand. You totally never will regret it.

Sorry if it looks like I'm giving a lot of unwanted recommendations but I'm really passionate about it haha.

King Txec

I grind my beans just before I use my Chemex (brand is Cosori but it's the same thing essentially). My morning coffee is always very good.

I was a member of a political organisation which was one of the descendants of the old Communist Party of New Zealand, the only CP in the developed world to side not with the USSR, not with China, but with Albania. So I'm genetically Hoxhaist, so to speak.

Thing is that KR1's fanatical isolationism was the most Hoxhaist thing he ever did.

This just makes me feel even better about wanting to try the Chemex. I don't necessarily want strong, punch-you-in-the-face coffee; I'd rather something that brings out the flavors a bit while keeping them reasonable.
