King Txec

Just an FYI that Hurricane Hillary is on a direct course to my city and if we do lose power or something else more dire, I may be incommunicado for a bit. As I've never experienced a tropical storm, I don't exactly know what to expect here in usually sunny Southern California.

Txec

Fill up your bathtubs, so you can use that water to flush the toilets if necessary (pouring it into the tank directly to fill it).  Buy bottled water if you still can.  Close the curtains so that any wind-broken windows will be limited a bit; if really worried, put Xs of painter's tape on each pane.  Keep your head down!

Sincerely,
A Floridian
Alexandreu Davinescu, Baron Davinescu del Vilatx Freiric del Vilatx Freiric es Guaír del Sabor Talossan

My thoughts dwell on the safety of you and your family, Txec. Please be careful. There has been talk of extreme risks for flooding.

Big Bopper, at your service.

Stay safe, Txec. I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Southeast Texas. In Ohio, we have snow days off from school...in Texas, we had hurricane days. I remember being a kid, and we'd drive down to the beach to watch the hurricane blow in. It was like a party, people would bring lawn chairs and coolers of beer. We never got much damage from them when I lived there. A hurricane seemed like just a really bad thunderstorm that got you out of school for a couple of days. Nowadays, I know better. My brother still lives in Texas, and is currently rebuilding his home for the third time. He said if another bad one hits, he might just give up and join me in Ohio.
