(....)  I have had, so far, a really interesting and enjoyable life, and it was easy for me to take advantage of the many opportunities I was given. It is too easy to be "only" scientific, or "only" artistic, or "only" philosophical - but I wanted all that (and more!).

When I was a child I thought I would be able to learn everything about everything... as I grew older I realised that was impossible... but what a world we live in! It is beautiful and interesting and magic and fascinating. No matter what part of the world or what part of the universe you look at, there is always something marvellous to experience.

I join with all of you in mourning the loss of our friend Ian Tamoran.  I'll never forget the evening I took the train out to Woking to meet him for dinner at a very nice French restaurant -- good food and *great* conversation well into the night.  His was a unique voice in Talossa, combining elegance, quirkiness (no, Ian, light does not have mass), intelligence, and wit.  I have been, and am, proud to call him friend, and countryman.  We'll miss him, until the Day dawns and the shadows flee away.
