So... you could vote for me again if you want to.

I'm running for re-election, mostly because I think my votes in the senate tend to be reasonably correct. Admittedly that argument might not be that convincing to voters who aren't me.

Just to recap the previous two terms.

Last election I said:

"If elected I will read every bill and vote on every clark. I will be independent and not blindly follow the instructions of any party or caucus. Most likely I won't do much else. I suppose this would be a marginal improvement over our current senate representation, but is it good enough? "

I did read every bill, but unfortunately I failed to deliver on my second promise as I did not vote on the third clark of the 60th Cosa. I had read the bills, but somehow I forgot to actually vote. My votes wouldn't have made a difference, but honestly that is no excuse. I'm sorry

I did stick to my pledge of being independent. I think I jugded every bill on it's merit without taking partisan politics into consideration.

Perhaps to make up for my blunder of not voting I did do more than promised on other areas. I wrote a piece of legislation which passed. As a result of which the election will end 2,5 hours earlier (midnight CET instead of 2:30 am CEST), allowing Cézembreans living in Europe a better chance of being awake for election night. Something I hope will tangibly improve the enjoyment of our elections by Cézembreans.

Additionally during the 60th cosa I was elected Mençei and as such served on the CRL. I won't claim to have been a particularly active Mençei but as a CRL member I did provide comments on many pieces of legislation and I think on a number of occasions I may have pointed out issues regarding legislation that were overlooked by others.

If re-elected I promise to accept the role of Mençei again if again there are no other candidates/volunteers for the position. I also promise to keep reading bills and commenting on them whenever I think there is a problem. I will keep judging bills on their merit and not follow the instructions of any political party or caucus. (Although I'm always open to hearing the concerns and opinions of Cézembreans when deciding how to vote.)

I am also considering to sponsor a sense of the Ziu to request the government to get Talossa off twitter. Other than that I don't expect to submit much (if any) legislation.

And finally I promise to really vote on every clark this time (whether you choose to believe that after my previous failure is up to you).

I don't really intend to campaign much. Of course if there are any pointed questions from concerned citizens or opposing candidates I will gladly answer them. I'm also more than willing to explain my vote on any bill I voted on during the previous term.

It's up to you to decide whether all this is good enough to be re-elected. It depends on what other candidates show up I suppose.

So eeh yeah you could vote for me again, or not. Whatever you think is best really

My opinion may not amount to much here but if I had my druthers the Green Party would endorse Gluc for reelection. I have said many deservedly good things about Sir Gluc in the past and will likely continue to do so in the future.

He has done a good job, unsurprisingly, and I hope Cezembreans will be wise enough to accept his offer of continued good service.

For the record, I requested Breneir remove his endorsement due to his unacceptable recent behaviour, which I did not want to be associated with. Unfortunately this request was denied.

I do not accept the endorsement, for personal rather than political reasons.

(To be clear I have no political or ideological problems with the Green party and if re-elected will judge their proposals on their merit same as for any other party.)

My opponent provided some interesting questions for me in his campaign thread. You can read my answers in his campaign thread. In the meantime, @þerxh Sant-Enogat I hope you don't mind if I have some questions for you as well.

1. Senators unlike MCs don't represent a party, but a province. Of course you are also the leader of a party. How do you see the balance between representing all the citizens of Cézembre and your partisan interests? As an example, suppose your party enters into a coalition at some point in the future and agrees to a coalition agreement as a part of that. Would you feel bound to vote in accordance with the coalition agreement even on items you personally disagree with? Are there any issues on which you disagree with your party and if so, which ones?

2. Would you be willing to sponsor a sense of the Ziu requesting the government to stop official communications on the site formerly known as twitter?

3. During the 59th Cosa you were PM for the TNC. The TNC signed an agreement preventing MZs from sponsoring amendments to the Organic Law unless approved by a multipartisan committee. How do you reflect on this and is this something that might happen again?

4. What are your thoughts on the CRL and other idea relating to improving quality of legislation and increasing debate and scrutiny on major reforms?

I have more questions, but I had stop myself here for now ;)

Inside the Progressive Alliance we will never impose any vote on our MCs and Senators. The only interests which we will defend are these of all citizens -and the scope of the responsibilities for a Senator is Natio-wide in my opinion.
Prog MCs may vote differently on a case by case basis (we did in the past), and personally I will not feel bound to vote according to the other members of the Party – even if I think that we all share the same vision for our Kinggdom.
In case of a needed coalition, I will insist on continuing based on this principle.

Absolutely, I am in favour of quitting X/Twitter, even if we will lose a part of our target audience. I can sponsor or co-sponsor such a sense of the Ziu, to try to have a majority decision on this, and on a final message that we will publish to announce the reasons of our departure.

Initially I was not in favour of this agreement, but as Party Leader, I signed this one to reflect the decision  of our Party aiming at having more than 100 votes to nominate a TNC Seneschal, and later as Seneschal myself I felt committed to respect this signature.
This multipartisan committee was to me a way to escape the democratic process reflecting the votes of a majority. I never vetoed any amendment, and deeply regretted that the FreeDem did so on February 2024 : see https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?msg=25136
Of course, I will never support such a black-box and undemocratic legislative process again.

I voted in favour of the suppression of the CRL to fluidify the legislative process but I know that the work on improving the quality of the legislation is crucial, and that this step should not be skipped.
As Mençei, you have been doing a great job at this, and your contribution has been decisive on many bills. As Tuischac'h I also tried to play my role in this process as a reviewer, trying to separate this role from my own feelings about the reviewed bills.
Should you not be in the position of continuing your action, I would gladly study with you the legislative modifications needed to allow committed and skilled citizens to contribute to this review step.
