Defence (Braneu Excelsio)

The Ministry of Defence received four terpelaziuns during the previous Cosa term. All of which were from the Green Party. Terpelaziuns were mostly but not always answered in a timely manner, answers were, however, always respectful, and usually informative. Commitments made in responses to the terpelaziuns were not always kept, which is the primary reason for a middling evaluation result. We nevertheless thank the Minister for his cooperation throughout the term.

Upon review of responses to the specific terpelaziuns listed below we noted the following highlights:

QuoteOn September 8, 2024 Minister Excelsio stated the following ministerial plans: "We are planning a live promotion ceremony for this transitions. More details will be shared in due course as the preparations are finalized."

The Opposition notes that this did not occur unfortunately.

QuoteOn November 10th, 2024 Minister Excelsio stated the following in response to our terpelaziun: "The Ministry of Defence held discussions with the Heir Presumptive to discuss a possible new Captain of the Zouaves. The Minister has made a decision and respects the timing for the Heir Presumptive to make the official appointment at the right time."

The Opposition notes this did indeed occur with the King's appointment of Sir Ian Platschisch as the new Capitan of the Zouaves. The Minister's reply to this enquiry, however, was late and in violation of the mandate to reply within 7 calendar days.

QuoteOn January 30th, 2025 Minister Excelsio stated the following in response to our terpelaziun: "Azul, the Ministry of Defence has been talking with the Captain of the Zouaves about an update to be made soon about the exhibitions during the 60th Cosa."

The Opposition notes this has not occurred unfortunately. During the term, this was the second of three commitments made concerning the Zouaves which the Ministry did not keep unfortunately.

QuoteOn February 20th, 2025 Minister Excelsio stated the following in response to our terpelaziun: "Thank you for your question. I must admit I haven't finished our talks between the Captain of the Zouaves and myself but we have decided to recognize at least one exhibition in the next 7 days. Once again, I apologize for the delay in this answer and this exhibition."

The Opposition notes the respectful reply here by the Minister with gratitude. Unfortunately, we also note that this leaves the Zouaves exhibition as unfinished business by the Ministry.

If we have been inaccurate in any aspect of our review or if the Minister simply wants to respond we welcome it in this thread.
