L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Talossan Meet Up?
February 05, 2026, 07:28:06 PM
Who would be down for a Meet Up in Talossa this Summer? Doesn't have to be a big thing but it could be fun.

Also, life has been hectic but in a good way. Sorry I'm not around much but that's kinda par for the course, right? Haha.

Just checking in to let everyone know I'm still around.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / CBS 58 piece on Talossa
November 15, 2025, 11:42:01 AM
Just watched the piece that CBS 58 did about Talossa. When the reporter talked about our flag, the image shown was actually the flag of the Republic of Talossa. Haha!

To be honest, the piece wasn't that great.

It's so stupid and I love it!

Even if you don't like slashers, even if you don't like horror, you've got to watch this dumpster fire of a movie!

I'm not a professional bicycle mechanic but I know enough to feel comfortable working on or building my own machines.

I decided earlier this year that I was going to build a new bike for my birthday. I checked everything! I made sure that the frame was the correct size and had the right geometry. I made sure that the Shimano components were compatible. I did a deep dive on gravel specific tyres. Yes, I said tyres and not "tires" because I'm dead set on making "tyre" the spelling around here.

I got all the parts, all the odds and ends, and I was confident that I could get this thing together. Everything was going swimmingly until it came time to install the brakes.

They're hydraulic disc brakes. I've never really worked with hydraulic disc brakes. It seemed simple enough. Install the rotors on the wheel hubs, install the calipers on the frame and fork. Simple! Then came the brake bleed.

Again, it seemed like a simple task. All you have to do is pump some mineral oil into the brake hoses. Simple...right?

Nope.

A trained mechanic would have finished the job in no time but I guess I had something to prove. Long story short, I had mineral oil all over everything and now my brake pads are contaminated. That means that the squeal when I try to stop.

I've ordered new brake pads because no matter what I do, the brakes still squeal.

Learn from my mistake. There's a difference between thinking you know what you're doing and actually knowing what you're doing. Don't be to proud or stubborn to ask for help.

I've been playing a mobile Carrom game lately and it's pretty fun. I've convinced @Iason Taiwos to play as well.

We'd like to organize an informal but (hopefully) regular session. We could play a few games, maybe voice chat on Discord. Come for the Carrom, stay for the conversation.

If we're going to voice chat, you don't even need to play. It would be more fun if you played but I leave that up to you.

So, who's in?

I'm not good at backgammon but it could be fun to play a few games with my fellow Talossans. It seems like something that could become part of our cultural identity.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Talossa will BURN!!
March 28, 2025, 12:05:17 PM
At some point between March 31st and April 9, the Wisconsin DNR will be burning a portion of Talossa!

Act of aggression? Not at all.

This isn't arson, it's a controlled burn.

This will take place at Lake Shore State Park which is located in Talossa. The controlled burn is meant to clear out overgrown vegetation and promote the growth of native wildflowers and other flora. This is the first time such a burn has taken place at the park.

Lake Shore State Park will be closed temporarily but will reopen after the burn has been completed.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / I've lost interest. Have you?
February 05, 2025, 06:52:25 PM
Does anyone else find themselves losing interest? I'm not talking about Talossa. I mean a loss of interest in general.

I don't want to worry people. I'm not in distress. I just find it difficult to be enthusiastic about things these days. I haven't been interested in movies or music lately. I thought it might just be overwhelming boredom. Thought I'd play a mobile game and couldn't find anything that interested me.

Maybe it's just winter. I do find myself more depressed in winter. I shouldn't say "depressed". It's like I have absolutely no motivation right now.

Is anybody else going through something similar? Or am I just going through a "funk"?

I'm considering going vegetarian. I could use more veggies in my diet and I think there could be some cost savings if I eliminate or reduce my meat consumption.

I know there are plenty of recipes online and there are tons of cookbooks out there but I'd like to hear what you have to suggest.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Happy New Year!
December 31, 2024, 06:51:25 PM
Hey everybody! It's me. Yup, I'm still around, lurking. Hehe.

Man, what a crazy year! Actually, it's been a few crazy years for me but I won't get to far into that.

Anyway, I'm have been doing well. I relocated from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to West Allis, Wisconsin. West Allis is just outside of Milwaukee. I work in Milwaukee and I spend some time in Talossa when I can. I'll be exploring Talossa more when the weather gets a bit nicer. Talossan winters can get a bit frigid but the summers a gorgeous. I really enjoy cycling to coast and looking out over the Mar.

One of my resolutions for the coming year is to be more present here. Honestly, I've neglected my responsibilities as a Talossan. I could at least pop 'round Witt a little more frequently. I don't suspect I'll be doing anything profound but I'm sure I'll found something to do.

I hope all is well with you and yours. I wish you prosperity and tranquility for the new year.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / So close yet so far away.
October 18, 2024, 12:09:04 PM
I've been trying to get some long rides in lately. The weather is getting colder and it won't be long before the snow starts flying.

In cycling terminology, a "century" is 100. There is the "Imperial Century" which is 100 miles and the "Metric Century" which is 100 kilometers.

Today, I cycled about 75km. Not quite a Century but well beyond a "Metric Half". In fact, it's my second Metric Half in a week or so.

What's the furthest single ride for you?

That's it. That's the post.

Well, Talossa and the GTA.

I'll keep adding stuff as I discover it.

There's this local magazine called "Shepard Express. You might assume that it's a religious magazine but it actually leans pretty far left. There's a new issue every month and it's totally free. You can find it throughout the GTA. Just look for the newspaper stands.

If you find yourself in Talossa and you happen to have a radio, tune in to 88.9 Radio Milwaukee. It's a listener sponsored radio station that plays indie and alternative music. They also showcase local acts. Radio Milwaukee introduced me to Immortal Girlfriend and Video Sex Priests, both local bands. If you're not in Talossa, you can listen online or download their app. Bonus points: the studio is in Talossa.

You can visit the Milwaukee Public Museum for free on the first Thursday of every month.

Stay tuned for more fun facts!

Wittenberg / Guess who's back, back again.
August 15, 2024, 05:56:25 AM
Azul everyone!

The past year has been wild!

All is well with me now but I had a few things happen that I don't really want to discuss openly.

Anyway, I'm back. I'm looking forward to lurking in the shadows and being sarcastic.

Also, I moved and now I'm "Talossa Adjacent". I've been cycling around Talossa a lot and it's pretty not so bad. The Mar is really cool and I think Florencia is fun.
#15
Sorry about dipping out suddenly like that. Life got a little hectic. Not bad, not good, just hectic.

Yeah, yeah, I know I missed Game Night. Sorry about that.
#16
I found a mobile version of Spite and Malice (a classic card game) and I was wondering if anyone wanted to play sometime.

It's a fun yet frustrating game. It's free to play. It doesn't take very long.

Or we could play a game you like. We could shoot archery, if you want to.

Seriously, I'm bored and I want to hang out.

Wittenberg / Happy Pride Month!
June 01, 2023, 03:22:30 PM
June is Pride Month. The LGBTQ community is alive and well here in Talossa, making our nation a diverse and inclusive place.

For those of you celebrating in America, I recommend that you do so with caution. Have fun but stay safe.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / TCAT, we messed up.
May 29, 2023, 06:23:56 PM
We messed up SO BAD!

We didn't wear pink for the first day of the Giro.

Let's not make the same mistake. Everyone should wear something YELLOW for the start of the Tour de France. I don't care if yellow isn't your colour. Wear yellow, take a photo and post it to Witt. We're starting a tradition here, people!

And don't forget to find something RED to wear for the Vuelta.

Let's get this done!

El Glheþ Talossan / Translation please.
May 22, 2023, 12:11:21 PM
What's the Talossan word for "racing"? I want to make a Kinetic Racing logo in Talossan. I know what Kinetic is, "Chinetic" but I don't know what Racing would be.

Thanks in advance.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / TCA Strava Group?
May 19, 2023, 02:36:45 PM
It seems to me that cycling has become quite popular in Talossa. Maybe it's time to hit the road.

If TCA created a Strava Group, I would be interested in joining. Anybody else interested?

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Proposed Club Changes
May 11, 2023, 12:49:37 PM
Members,

I apologize for the delay. Here are the proposed changes to the club.

Club Name
Our organization has long been know as the Toxophilite Club. However, I propose that we change the club's name to El C'hlub Saxhitourófil to reflect our Talossan heritage. Furthermore, it has come to my attention that there are other clubs that already use the Toxophilite monicker. Given that the proposed name is quite complicated, I also propose that we abbreviate it to ECS.

Divisions
This club has created to preserve and promote the study and practice of "traditional" archery. While I still believe that is a noble goal, it limits our ability to be competitive at a micronational as well as macronational level. Additionally, "traditional" archery is dedicated discipline within competitive archery and our definition is incongruent with the current competitive rules.

Therefore, I propose that the club be divided into three separate yet equal divisions.

The "Deport" or Sport Division will be dedicated to modern competitive archery and all competitions will be contested under World Archery Federation (WA) rules.

The "Traditional" or Traditional Division will adhere to the rules set forth by the Traditional Archery Society except in cases where WA Traditional rules take precedence.

The "Primitiveu" or Primitive Division will be dedicated to the preservation of ancient archery traditions and practices. This division is non competitive in nature and is dedicated to the more academic side of archery.

Let's discuss this for the moment. I'd also like your input on club structure. I'm looking forward for your input.

I will be posting the Club Bylaws on May 1st. All members will have the opportunity to discuss the posted bylaws and suggest amendments. Once the bylaws are approved, we will vote to enact said bylaws.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / May Virtual Shoot
March 25, 2023, 11:37:13 AM
We haven't done a Virtual Shoot in awhile and, I'll be honest, the last shoot didn't go very well.

Instead of organizing a month long competition, I think we should organize a one day event. Maybe we could hang out, chitchat and do some shooting in real time.

I was thinking we could do this on the 6th of May, 2023. Planning this far in advance gives us some time to practice and figure out how we can socialize during the event.

Let me know if this works for all of you.

I was looking through TalossaWiki and ended up looking at the Currency section.

I understand what a Bent is. I understand what a Louis is. But further down in the article, it talks about a "Ferrigno" which is apparently worth ten Louis and a "Brock and a half" which is worth one Louis and thirty Bence. The hell?

So ten Louis is a Ferrigno and a single Louis is a Brock? Where did these terms come from? Are there terms for other amounts? What do you call five Louis? A half Ferrigno?

Also, beer is legal tender in Talossa and non alcoholic beer is counterfeit  currency. That's the law, by the way. In the law it says the na beer is called an "Affleck" or a "Hill". Where did that come from?!

Talossa is WEIRD. :o
#25
Did a little research into this whole Micro Con thing and apparently there are 'Feats of Strength' at the event. Looks like the only thing on schedule is bowling but it's better than nothing.

Being an amateur athlete, I'd be interested in participating and representing Talossa. Plus, the venue isn't too far from where I live.

There really aren't any details about the bowling event so I don't know if it's teams or individuals. If it's individuals, I'd consider giving it a go.

The problem is that I'm not sure if this is something the government approves or sanctions. Are we opening relations with the wider micronational world or are we still isolating?

Fiôvâ / Cuntat Manáweg - REPOST
March 08, 2023, 12:16:52 PM
Below, you will find my preliminary map for Cuntat Manáweg.

Additional Information

The county seat, hereafter referred to as the 'Siada', will be El Proïs.

The county pennent, also know as the 'Vexilour', will be a triangular swallow tail with the top half being white and the bottom half being green.

The county colours are green and white. Green represents prosperity while white represents peace.

If this requires a proposal to make things official, I'm more than happy to write such a proposal.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Thoughts on crossbows?
February 12, 2023, 03:10:05 PM
I initially started this club to promote traditional archery in Talossa and I intentionally excluded crossbows. For whatever reason, I've always thought that using a crossbow was "cheating" because it requires far less training and practice to be proficient with such a weapon.

However, crossbows have existed for a long time. They first appeared in China around the 7th century BC and emerged in Greece around the 5th century BC. One can assume that the crossbow wouldn't exist without the invention of the hand bow.

Here's my question for all Toxophilites: Should we include crossbows in our organization or should we focus solely on archery?

I need someone to send me a Club invite. I'll DM you my friend code. Just shoot me a message. (Pun only slightly intended)

Fiôvâ / Question concerning townships.
February 02, 2023, 02:04:44 PM
I've been working on naming the townships of Manaweg County and I've stumbled upon an issue.

If you look at the map with the townships, there is an unnumbered section in Manaweg County. It's located south of township 69 and east of township 65. I'm unsure which township this unidentified section belongs to. Logically, this section should be part of township 69 given that a large wholesale company occupies both township 69 and the unnumbered section. However, that section could very well be part of township 65 and I'm simple unaware of some law that makes it part of said township.

It's not the most pressing matter but it is something I'd like to address.

What are your thoughts on this topic? Is there a law that I am unaware of? Am I investing too much time and effort on this subject?

I think the answer to the last question is "yes".  ;D

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Explaining my absence.
January 27, 2023, 01:12:18 PM
Sorry for disappearing so suddenly. Life kind of got in the way.

My mental health was all over the place and relapsing didn't help things. Plus, I always get bummed out during winter.

Good news is I'm sober, in a good place mentally and I've found a new job. Straight and narrow once again.

I want to apologize to the Toxophilites as well. I know I let you down but I'll try to do better in the future.

Anywho, I'm back and I'll be around. If there's anything I need to know about, feel free to share.
