Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on May 08, 2026, 06:53:05 PMThere is already a bill in the CRL that would modify the same provision. In such a circumstance, I would not want to move forward with a bill that would modify the same provision, because it's confusing and poor form. While this bill is fine in form and function, and I vote to approve, I think it would be best to wait for a future Clark.

Thank you for approving in form and function. My bill removes the strongmen statement in the WHEREAS clause which was mentioned as a concern. If there is no movement before the call for bills for the sixth Clark I will move forward with this one.

Speaking of real problems, we may have a month with negative immigration on the departures of Tric'hard and Vitxalmour? This is one reason why Greens have highlighted with renewed urgency the need for a TalossAssistant for each new applicant. It has been months since the PA announced the program's restoration and so far only a Green has served as an official TalossAssistant.

Talossa is shrinking and the PA might actually want to treat it like the urgent issue the PA made it out to be in the last election. As the only opposition party currently we plan to continue bringing attention to this matter.

S:r Secretary would you please move this to the CRL?

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on May 05, 2026, 11:47:13 AMI thank the MZ for his question.  I am currently serving as Avocat-Xheneral, as indicated by law.

I thank the new A-X for a prompt reply.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on May 05, 2026, 11:57:06 AMI thank the MZ for his question.  In response, I think I'd like to hold off until a few more people are confirmed as possible assistants.

I don't feel there's any immediate time pressure, since we've already been implementing a lot of the other Royal Commission recommendations in extraordinary form:
  • The Prime Minister's Patriotic Award has been restored, and we actually have produced a bunch of physical awards that can be sent out to recipients.  They are designed to be displayed on the lapel, collar, or pocket, and that will make them visible in pictures or on Zoom and unusually prestigious (as the only physical award).
  • The New Citizen's Guide has been updated, reformatted, and restored in collaboration with the Secretary of State, and will soon be formally unveiled.  You can see a preview here.
  • Our diplomatic efforts have been very fruitful, with a lot of communications both formal and informal.

We will continue to do even more, of course.  If the MZ hears of anyone of good character who is interested in volunteering for the TalossAssistant program, please send them my way.

I thank the Minister for the prompt reply and will monitor developments concerning the program.

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on May 04, 2026, 10:58:48 PMMr. Speaker,

This enquiry is for the Culture/Finance Minister.

On April 14, Minister @Françal I. Lux informed the nation of his return to service. Minister, if you could please advise the Ziu on your plans for the Culture and Finance portfolios now that you are back.
Thank you for the question.

Mr. Speaker, my main priority for the next month is resuming my previous plans for the Culture Ministry. With the help of S:reu Malt and under the supervision of our Ladîntsch Naziunál, the Ministry of Culture will be sponsoring a translation project, first to update the Talossan version of the Organic Law, and, if all goes well, the gradual translation of the nation's statutes.

I thank the Minister for his prompt reply. I will follow up next month for updates.

Mr Speaker,

This simple enquiry is for the Avocat-Xheneral.

After the resignation of S:reu Lenxheir who now serves the nation as Avocat-Xheneral?

Mr. Speaker,

I enquired in an unofficial capacity after noticing a two month delay between the announcement of plans to restart the TalossAssistant program by the Government. Seeing no progress, this question is restated for the Immigration Minister:

QuoteTwo months ago the Government announced plans to restart the TalossAssistant program. In that time it appointed a new citizen and party member to oversee deadlines but there has been no noticeable activity on the TalossAssistant program. There are several new Immigration applicants awaiting a potential Assistant. When will the Government officially launch the new TalossAssistant program?

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on May 04, 2026, 08:25:36 PMNo.  I've been reaching out to Talossans of good repute to find out if any of them might be interested in helping with the program.

For two months, huh. Interesting.
I don't think we have a dearth of Talossans of good repute for the recent applicants.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on February 28, 2026, 05:40:44 PMWe'll soon restart the TalossAssistant program to build on that a little more, as well.

Following up on this.

I think the last official TalossAssistant was me when my husband immigrated but I have not seen any other assignments in the two months since. I may be mistaken though. Has the TalossAssistant program been restarted officially?

Quote from: varoneglan on April 30, 2026, 11:04:31 PMI am wondering if it would be acceptable, in the spirit of transnational cooperation and friendship, for me to submit a recipe on behalf of the Republic of Slaterya? (I am currently Minister of Arts and Culture, and as such have some authority in matters of cuisine.)

Of course! Please feel free to send the recipe here by private message or via email to copebh@gmail.com

Another idea I proposed a while ago but never went back and fleshed out was a transition to multiple readings of bills and a moving away from the monthly schedule along with the potential for free-floating confidence votes as well. I was working on it here with the Three Readings Amendment and thought there had been some expressions of support for the idea in the past.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on April 30, 2026, 05:21:11 PMI agree with Miestra that it would be unjust to say that teenagers can't participate in something a teenager created.

But maybe we should have ethics standards for the behavior of MZs.  Since we're already doing this, I'll note that there's not clear guidance on when MZs should vote to expel one of their members.  That might be a good thing to include in here.

Yes I agree that the Ziu should have a code of conduct and clear methods for expulsion as most other parliaments do. Similarly they also have reasonable minimum age requirements for service. The fact that the founder was once a teenager is not a compelling reason (edit: to me) for us not to have a higher age of eligibility.

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on April 30, 2026, 04:01:07 PMLol, that was a good one, Miestra.

I have mentioned this in responding to Ian. Serving in the Ziu is just one way of participation among many many other opportunities for involvement in politics. I have criticized it in the past but one benefit of our politics-heavy culture is the widespread opportunities for participation. Parliamentary service should call for a higher standard.

I agree, although not about the age thing.  It's certainly possible that we should have ethical standards.

Well at least we agree on something. I think not placing 14 year olds in positions of national leadership might be an issue of ethics as well but that's just me it seems.

Quote from: Miestră Schivă, UrN-GC on April 30, 2026, 02:51:48 PMBTW, I am actively offended by the idea of depriving younger citizens of political rights. Talossa started as a child's fantasy endeavour, and it is repugnant for adults to try to eliminate kids from something they started because adults can't be trusted.

But I'm in favour of age limits for being an MC, though. An upper age limit. We can't be like the "Boomers who won't let go", I think that once you hit 40 or something you should only be able to run for a Senäts seat

I don't see any arguments against a lower age limit while supporting an upper age limit being logically consistent. I support both, we have recent experience that demonstrates why allowing some time for observation and maturation would be beneficial. With an eye on US Politics (I am thinking of Diane Feinstein, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Thomas Keane among other examples) I am sympathetic to a characterizing of the problem of gerontocratic leadership as "Boomers won't let go" though.
