Wittenberg / Re: I renounce my citizenship.
January 06, 2024, 05:50:47 PM
I too wish to join Miestra for a quick change of mind here, but if that does not happen, thank you for everything, and I wish you all the best for the future.

And in either case, I do wish to thank the outgoing Seneschal for his drive and dedication that he brought into Talossa and the olive branch and bridge he was building with opposing views, and allowing for a space to have those discussions.

His absence will leave a big hole in Talossa and her politics.

I wish him well for the future, and I hope if he doesn't change his mind quickly that one day he shall.

And I wish the best to the now Acting Seneschal Þerxh Sant-Enogat and echo the words of Miestra here about working together. And hope that you will continue in the role as your predecessor did.

Thank you Bråneu for everything you have given to Talossa. I hope it shall not be forgotten.

Wittenberg / Re: The Organic Law Party

Whilst I can in a way, understand why AD is concerned, and aside from the inappropriateness of a member of the Judiciary to be so openly political without renouncing their seat on the Cort.
There is a glaring question, Miestra gave Viteu the go ahead to investigate and bring the matter to the Ziu at the time, in the way she thought was best at the time, if Viteu thought that is was such an oversight that he needed to raise it privately, why when he was given that go ahead, did Viteu apparently decide to not pursue the matter publicly, at the time? As that would have been the time to do so, not now when he is throwing a temper tantrum after a reasonable disagreement (at first) and blowing it up way out of proportion.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on February 07, 2023, 06:54:46 AMIt has been the largest opposition party that gets the post in the past, so that would be my inclination.  Luc would do a fantastic job, of course, but it was the FDT that got the most votes after the TNC.  If @Antaglha Xhenerös Somelieir says that no one in the FDT can do it at this time, and if Luc is interested in the post, then it's fine with me.

The Túischac'h is going to need to host and run the State Opening, as well as a Living Cosa, I'd imagine, in addition to the CRL duties.  So whoever wants the job should be someone who:
  • is comfortable conducting meetings over Zoom.
  • is able to help scrutinize legislation in the CRL.

As the FreeDem Leader, i will confirm that the FreeDems support Lüc da Schir as Túischac´h, and will also second the nomination with my own 14 seats

Hi all,
First off, I'm sorry this is so late in election season, mh has not been the best of late, but I'm here now, and as FreeDems leader I fully endorse and support @Martì-Paír Furxhéir for senate, if you agree that the King has been an absent king for to long, if you believe that less red tape is needed, if you think @Ian Plätschisch has done a great job as Seneschal then vote for FreeDems for the Cosa, Senate and Provincial seats. We need your support and if you wish to join our party then please contact me or @Ian Plätschisch, the party secretary, for more information.

Vote FreeDems #TheKingMustGo

With respect with my own activity, although i am not as active as i would have liked, since becoming the FreeDem leader, i have been MORE active not less, and even before i was becoming more active, (alot of my absenses is due to exhaustion and/or mental health stuff, but i am doing my best to be as active as i can be, and am upfront about this) but that is neither here or there.

The main reason i believe the King's inactivity has come to crunch point, is the simple fact that a CONSTIUTIONAL MONARCHY as we are in talossa, cannot function effectivley WITHOUT an active monarch, and as a Monarch, in a consitutional monarchy, the King is effectivley part of the Government, and functions as such in law, within Organic Law, and if the king is not around and neglecting those duties, as King John has done for 7 YEARS, the government cannot be said to have been fully functional, and over time as the inactivity has worsened, the FreeDem's ability to govern has worsened, the government has not been in a functional state with an effectively vacant throne, also, we have managed  to do alot despite the absesence ofthe king, but we can only do so much in the face of the Kings absence. The TNC glossing over these arguments, and the assertion we are doing this as a distraction of Government records, obviously misunderstand what a Constiutional Monarchy is.

Also, if the King did poke his head in, it was with a full show of political bias against the government, and often vetoed the ELECTED branch of government. Without any consultation before doing so. Then goes back into hibernation. And im sick of the defence of a King who is absent and is so obviously partisan, a blind person could see it. All of this and more is why THE KING MUST GO!

Also, an added note is that is current party policy to have an open debate on all aspects of what takes place on removal of the King, which was a position we came to after this was initially released. Which is why it isn't reflected above.

Wittenberg / FreeDem Statement on the King
December 17, 2022, 10:59:21 AM
Time and again, the Talossan National Congress refuse to engage on the subject of monarchy reform. Those "reforms" they do espouse – such as allowing the King to choose his own successor – are diametrically opposed to the views of the Free Democrats of Talossa. When they are not a return to the old status quo, they suggest an even worse position.
Moreover, the close affiliation between the King and the TNC – whose leader he named as his stand-in during the entire Cosa term he abandoned his Kingdom – raises questions about the King's political impartiality, which is central to maintaining trust in our current Constitutional Monarchy. Add to this the King's use of his legislative veto to defend his own power and position (or even worse, based on personal preference), and – probably worse of all – his simple absence from Talossa for months at a time, popping in only rarely to grant us his presence.

If, on the other hand, the King does miraculously become more active if the TNC take over governance, that will just be a further sign to us of his political partiality and thus his disqualification from being a Constitutional Monarch. It is clear that further progress is not going to be possible whilst King John rules the roost.
So, the King must abdicate or resign, as he has constantly demonstrated he has little or no interest in the role. If he will not do so, he must be removed by the lawful method of Organic Law amendment.

As to how to choose a new Monarch, this is a question on which we welcome public debate. However – given his obvious political partiality – it seems clear that the King must not be simply entitled to choose his own successor. When he chose a Regent a few years ago, he chose the person most guaranteed to outrage reformist and republican opinion. It seems a pretty good bet he'd do something similar with regard to his successor – maybe even the exact same thing.

With the Free Democrats position on this now made clear, I would ask the TNC: how can you continue to support a monarch who does not support or engage with his country?
And further to this, given the clear conflicts of interest that will arise if the TNC do gain power, how would the TNC's defence of the absent King not be seen as anything but political pandering? A "vicious circle" of political corruption seems clear: the TNC defends the King, so the King favours the TNC.

The Free Democrats' answer is that the King has demonstrated he is not fit to be monarch and must either step down or be removed, for the sake of future political stability in Talossa. There is no way forward with John continuing as King. And the TNC need to answer why they continue to prop up someone who's job is to help heal divides in political dives, yet due to his actions, has just caused those divides to become chasms that he cannot close.

The King MUST GO!

Maybe a better solution is that anything that requires a response from a different party is published in the main Wittenberg section? And most everything else is posted in party boards?

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on December 02, 2022, 10:40:29 PMI'm not sure what requires explanation?  Mximo and the voters who might agree with his perspective have committed to supporting a potential TNC government after seeing the effective opposition and consistent activity for which we've advocated.  I don't really see how that obliges the TNC to defend every twist and turn in twenty years of his career in Talossa.

The fact the the TNC has confirmed a coalition with Mximo, of whatever kind, especially with an individual with such inconsistent positions and conflicts with parties/agreements such as this, over the years does, reflect on the TNC, and such associations do raise valid questions, which in general, is not unreasonable to expect an answer as how this does not reflect on the character of the TNC. I am not seeking an essay on the TNC's position on Miximo's entire political history, but raising a pattern of behaviour and asking how this does not reflect the TNC's values as a whole, given said associations, is a valid point to bring up, that is also pertinent to potential voters.

As Başbakan of Ataturk i confirm, and officially request that the Chancery conducts the elections for Ataturk on our behalf, as indicated above.

Whilst I understand the above about being disrespectful, which is something we do need to do our best not to be, i cant help but notice that the criticisms, that Miestra has put forward in her first comment, and her follow up comments on how this will HELP the TNC, have not been address, yes you have every right to call out what you see as disrespectful behaviour, but not at the cost of avoiding valid political points, and using that as a Deflection.

So with the above said, what is, in your opinion, there to gain from this alliance, especially given Mximo's pattern of flip flopping, and valid points about why Mximo left the ZRT, that Miestra raised? These are valid points that i believe warrant a response from the TNC
