Look, this is so tedious and boring.  You guys do ahead and have the last word on this and I'm going to ignore it from now on.  Follow your bliss.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Let me repeat: I'm a free agent, bud. Consider this my formal resignation from the FreeDems so that you can stop peddling these poorly veiled strawman arguments.

Miestra, GV, or anyone else: when you see this, please remove me from the Facebook group and other FreeDem ventures.

Now that that's out of the way--

You don't have to "serve my interests" in any way, AD, and it's pretty plain that I didn't say so. Maybe I was wrong for thinking that you were intelligent. Are we sure that you read English fluently? I'm starting to think that you never went to school.

The fact that you reduced my statement to that kind of fallacy is proving the point: you don't have to serve anyone's interests but Talossa's, yet you continue to peddle your own ego and low self-esteem under some really awful disguises. Buddy, if it's a serious problem, then step up to fix it or - how do I put this in a way that you'll understand? - shut up and stay out of the adults' way.

If you had the time to edit an article ten times, then you definitely had time to do something more productive with your attention. Maybe you could have - I don't know - reached out to GV on Facebook, on Witt, or in several other avenues-- but you didn't, did you?

So, either you're a pissant with nothing better to do than harass hard-working and well-meaning colleagues, so that you can feel just a little bit bigger in your small world, or you're a loser who gets joy from vandalizing and insulting others' hard work so that you can feel better about watching your legacy be stripped away. Maybe it's both.

In either case, it's time to put actions when your mouth is or, if you can't drum up enough patriotism for Talossa, to piss off and scurry back to your hole.

It might be inconvenient for your party, but tough luck, buttercup.

You know, the phrase "micked" was born from something not dissimilar. Wouldn't it be fun if we started actually calling it "Coke Zero"?

;D

This ain't tribalism, bud. I'm a free agent.

I would prefer that you - and, by extension, the silent public who may be reading this - work in good faith to rectify problems and participate earnestly in public projects. It's not enough to make a covert edit, throw some tomatoes, and whinge.

I've been pretty consistent with my message, AD: I desperately want to like you, because I see that you're intelligent and can produce good work, but this incessant need on your part to tear down Miestra and the FreeDems is (a) beneath you, (b) unbecoming of what Talossa deserves from someone of your record, and (c) unproductively destructive.

I'm going to call it out whenever I see it, whether it's a week old or not. Unfortunately, my schedule does not bend to your whims and I'd have said something sooner if I had been available.

If you're not going to help clean up the Wiki, or help clean up El Lexhatx or the OrgLaw, or help do literally anything else going on, then sit down and be quiet. There are honest people in Talossa who are trying every day to push Talossa forward, whether that's SIGN and the language or GV as the Scribe, but you're not one of them. You think you are, perhaps, and maybe you were so at one point, but you are not anymore.

I'm running out of patience for your drivel, your whinging, and your hostility. Help out, or get out of the way. Your example is toxic, and it drowns out others' potential interest to get involved. The next time you want to post something to Witt, ask yourself: "Is what I'm about to say going to help this person, or hurt them?" If the latter, then keep your mouth shut.

Florencia / Re: Nimlet Session (Sep 2020-Ongoing)
September 17, 2020, 11:49:06 AM
I was rather uninspired and unmotivated to speak before now, in part because a single person controls a supermajority of seats in this new term of the Shepherds and it was hence a wasted effort during a busy day to log in, think, write a reply, and hit 'post'.

That said, this amendment to our provincial constitution is a travesty. Talk about the death of democracy.

When I wrote these original provisos, I wrote them specifically so that the person who may benefit most from jockeying with seat assignments, i.e. the Governor, is not the same person getting to run or oversee the election that determines those same seat assignments. To say that it is a conflict of interest is an understatement.

But worse, you wrote this amendment so that any challenge to the seat assignments has to be adjudicated by the Governor directly, rather than the Constable, the Uppermost Cort, or literally any other third party who has nothing to gain or lose by the outcome. In effect, whosoever becomes the Governor can very well ensure that they stay in control of the Nimlet and, by extension, remain the Governor forever.

It does not matter whether these are "likely" or "plausible"; the fact that it is possible is the issue entirely.

If this were not evidence of a powermove to ensure total ideological domination of Florencia, then I don't know what would be.

An utter disaster.

El Senäts/The Senate / Re: Do we have a Mencei?
September 17, 2020, 11:38:17 AM
There are standing rules of the Senate to be found here > http://wiki.talossa.com/Standing_Rules_of_the_Senate

The relevant rule is Rule 2, to wit:

Quote
1. At the beginning of each new term, and whenever the position is vacant, the Senate shall choose a Lord President (Mençei) from among its members to perform the duties of the Chair.

2. Pending the election of a Mençei, the Dean of the Senate shall perform the duties of the Chair as Acting Mençei. Should the Dean of the Senate be absent or unwilling, seniority will be followed to select a replacement.

3. The Acting Mençei shall allow for nominations to be lodged for a period of at least a week from the beginning of a term. Should a Senator receive nominations from a majority of Senators, the nomination period shall end and the Senator be considered duly elected; otherwise, a ballot shall be held using Instant Runoff Voting. Seniority shall resolve any ties that may occur during any stage of elimination.

4. The Mençei shall have the right to name a Senator to perform the duties of the Chair as Deputy Mençei, should he or she be absent for a protracted period of time, and to name a Senator to represent him in any particular function he or she may hold by right of law.

5. Should the Mençei be absent without having named a replacement, the Senate shall be empowered to select a Senator to perform the duties of the Chair as Deputy Mençei, until such a time as the Mençei returns to the floor.

I nominate GV.

That makes three of us. If two more agree, then GV becomes the Mençei without an election.

We already have a Discord server. Why not organize some playtime there?

I like to play RTS or turn-based strategy games mostly, but I am amenable, really, to any game that is fun at its core.

Anyone else want to join in? Viteu and I have already play some games (I think?) on a different Discord server.

Let me know who's in (just so I know who to contact, and which games they have), and I'll organize something!

According to this...

https://talossa.com/royal-civil-service/college-of-arms/joining-the-college-of-arms/

... I have to submit a resume and other details. That's, like, not going to happen. But I will answer the three questions:

1) Japan
2) Ferrari
3) A mythical creature, part horse and part bull, that can't fight but runs away.

It's your choice to appoint me, but I won't be submitting myself for employment verification ;)

You may utilize my services, or not.

I oppose this bill in principle and in practice. It's an unnecessary extra burden to legislation, and I personally take offense that someone would need to "approve" my legislation before it can be hoppered.

The current scheme is sufficient.

If you really want a revisor of sorts, then do that instead. I could get behind it. Or add these duties to the Scribe.

Either way, we don't need a "committee" to "approve" bills.

I've seen sufficient answers made elsewhere by others, but I did want to offer: If you'd like to get involved with politics, please reach out to me. I can get you in touch with the right party leader, depending on your personal political inclinations.

Cheers.

For the sake of clarity: this appointment shall coincide with the resignation of the incumbent Scribe, S:reu Gödafrïeu Válcadác'h, who has indicated a desire to resign. His resignation shall take effect upon the installation of his successor.
