Sir Ian Plätschisch

Hello and welcome to the 2022 Talossan Music Top 20

We are holding it a bit early this year to celebrate the return of the inestimable Lüc da Schir.

2022 TMT20 Nomination Rules

Nominations are now open. Everyone (including guests and prospective citizens) is invited to nominate songs to form the 2022 edition of the Talossan Music Top 20.

The rounds format and tiebreakers will be the same as last year.

The competition will consist of 150 songs. 101 songs have qualified automatically based on their performance last year. Therefore, there will be a total of 49 new nominations, of which 0 are currently unfilled.

For now we will start with 3 nominations per person. If we don't have enough songs by 17:00 TST on April 22nd, everyone will be free to nominate one new songs every 12 hours.

We are voting on the written combination artist (or composer) + title, rather than the specific version that is being linked to, in case people do not like that version.

If you can, please include a link to YouTube or some other video or audio file of the song. Otherwise I will find a link myself, but I might not always find the best version.

All genres of music are welcome. Nominating an entire symphony is probably not a good idea, but go for it if you want, I guess.

Do not worry about nominating songs because they are not popular enough (or because they are too mainstream). You do not get a prize if your song wins. If you get someone to listen to a song or genre he did not know or like before, that is nice too. We all seem to love our 70s rock classics, and if your all time favorite song happens to fall in that category, go for it! But if it does not, adding some diversity to the list is just as good. Just nominate whatever song you think deserves to be in the list for whatever reason.

Tagging some people who may or may not be interested (others are equally welcome to nominate songs of course):

Was also considering nominating something by The The, just to see how Ian would deal with that (having removed all the "The"'s from the artist names). ;D

Edit: nevermind, we still have The Weeknd and The Who. I suppose "Who" would be almost as bad as "The"

Sir Lüc

Very tough to pick just 3 as usual, so I tried to pick unrepresented artists:

1. Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRMvKFJ5fZM

2. Kool & The Gang - Celebration

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M

3. Boney M. - Rasputin

Going with three modern songs this time, which probably means that all of them will be eliminated in the first round, but whatever.

1. Paramore - Still Into You (the song our Organic Law is kind of named after)

2. Charli XCX - Boom Clap

3. CHVRCHES - Killer

I remove "The" unless it is an integral part of the name (in my judgment)

I know there's one Foo Fighters song already but given the sad news about Taylor I think it's a good idea to throw up their biggest hit
Foo Fighters - Everlong

Leonard Cohen - Everybody Knows
