Purpure is discouraged, but not prohibited, and the applicant expressed it as being their only preference.

On this I'd be a stickler for rules.
If it's a question of being discouraged, the prospective armiger was never discouraged on that score.
Secondly, he first said Blue and then choose Purple. So there's anyways an affinity to Blue.
On the choice of discouraged colours, I'd probably like to grant them only to such candidates who claims certain affinity based on education, regionalism or something similar and which cannot be replaced.

Many an armiger here might want to replace charges and or colour if them were permitted in the present case. Strict interpretation have been used in the past, and ideally should continue.
I'll respect your decision. But if this is the case, then we should amend the rules to indicate that purpure is actually a forbidden tincture unless the applicant has a specific and demonstrable affiliation with the color. Currently the rules only say that it should be "mildly discouraged," so you're proposing a pretty significant change.

I think the thing where he said another color first was a reference to Monty Python, by the way.

There's no real answer without more information.  I can say that he's never been granted these arms as far as I know, not even by himself, so he wouldn't be entitled to bear them in Talossa.  And I can't imagine the College ever granting them in the future to anyone.  So if the idea was to prevent anyone else from having them, I don't think that's a worry.

If there are no objections, then I guess it's on to the Dean!

I'm still fiddling with the emblazonment, here and there, but I'm near settled on this crest.  I like the idea of a mural crown.

Yes, the one associating me with the CH terrorists.

Don't play dumb, AD. I told you over and over again at the time that religious bigotry was one of the motivations for Rough Music.
I see you saying that there, but I honestly don't remember this being any kind of problem, since I thought you were harassing me just because you were the target of criticism from my cartoonists, not because of that.  Looking at the issue now, I guess I'm not understanding how it's a reference to you even now.

I guess that connection would make sense if you were threatening people, but I don't remember you ever doing so.

EDIT: I just reread that thread you linked.  Ugh.  I'm done with this conversation.  Can't risk you starting that up again.  I apologize for mentioning anything about cartoons, I withdraw my offer, I'm sorry, and never mind

The one which directly references the Prophet of Islam, of course
The one published in our Charlie Hebdo edition, after a bunch of journalists were murdered for publishing a picture of Muhammad?

Can you tell me which one?  I think this page shows all of them: http://www.berichttalossan.com/search/label/ESM

Was it after I cut him loose with issue #26?

Not the creepy guy who did those Islamophobic cartoons I hope
I don't remember any Islamophobic cartoons, and a quick search on old Witt didn't turn up any use of the term (or Islamophobe, islamophobia, etc).  The only unethical thing I remember is that "Eric S. Mildew" once faked a cartoon exchange to get me to publish something I wouldn't have otherwise done, and I fired him for it.  It's possible that someone published an Islamophobic cartoon and you just never said anything, I guess, although it seems more likely you're just misremembering.  I haven't read the back issues in years, though.

Love it. I should email my old cartoonists and see if any of them are interested in contributing.

I emailed him. He has not been very active in a while, but as we've seen that can all change as people get interested in involved again. Maybe this will be the thing that does it for him!

I'm not a math guy, but I guess I don't understand why one number doesn't win. That's what I would have assumed - you buy one or more tickets for a dollar each, and if you buy the winning number, you get whatever the pot is for that drawing. Or split it if someone else picks the same number. Pretty low stakes, very simple. Although maybe a dollar wouldn't be enough of a pot if only a handful of people enter, so it might make sense to start off with pricier tickets.

But you guys are engineers and math people, so there are probably good reasons that I don't understand.

We could probably do what Rouge Elephant advises now, and if in some future year we want to redeem the fellowship, we can do that. Would that work?
