I'm personally ok with just an instrumental anthem but don't mind if others prefer to have lyrics

Cézembre / Re: Provincial flag
March 03, 2025, 07:03:06 PM
Quote from: Mic'haglh Autófil, O.Be on March 03, 2025, 12:25:36 PMAzul Cézembrien (?) friends,

Just wanted to check in with you regarding this discussion. While I may not hail from your fair province, if nothing else I thought I could supply a few ideas for discussion. I had two concepts pop up earlier this morning and thought I would share them with you here:

The first of these incorporates the national colors in a way that -- perhaps somewhat amusingly, perhaps not, depending on your perspective -- moves the flag closer to the roots of the Gwenn ha Du. Personally, I would say that if this design were something you wanted to explore further in order to avoid too radical a departure from your present flag, using a different ermine shape than the one I've got would likely be helpful, because I feel like these don't show up well from a distance.

The second is intended as a sort of representation of the island of Cézembre itself. The Zone Autorisée in the southeast (hence why the green ermines are down there, inverted from the usual order of the Bicoloreu -- "green means go") and the Zone Interdite in the northwest (red, of course, signifying the "off-limits" nature of this Zone). The black bendlets serve as a callback to the current flag, while also abstractly representing the rough internal boundaries of your island. This one is of course a larger shift in identity compared to the present flag, but if you are looking to craft a symbol that is all your own, would not a bigger change be required?

Thanks for these ideas - perhaps the latter one could find it's way into the upper quadrant somehow.  I'm not clear on any heraldic traditions regarding the density of ermine symbols, but I know as a tincture it is a fur rather than a color or metal, and vair, although made from the fur of red squirrels shows their winter coat as blue gray.  As Cezembre is surrounded by sea, perhaps sea lettuce could be used https://www.brittanytourism.com/plan-my-holiday/latest-news-and-events/green-algae/ or the scales of a local fish that are green.  Ermine change color from reddish-brown in the summer to white in the winter. The only part of their body that remains black year-round is the tip of their tail, but that appears to be the only part represented as a symbol, relying on winter white fur for the field.

Quote from: Sir Lüc on February 27, 2025, 08:26:28 AMGiven that all three provinces have now confirmed to me they do not wish to organise their own Senatorial race, I think we're pretty safe to open registration to Senate races immediately.

Senate candidates can now register themselves in this thread by simply stating so (no additional information is necessary).

Can those wishing to nominate others for office also do so in this thread?

Need to suspend sales for a bit because the current shipping is not working and I'm having to refund coins that are not being received.

I thank the Member for his question.

The Permanent Secretary of Backend Administration has created our team on DigitalOcean, which, now that a minor snafu involving my webmail has been resolved, I should be able to join shortly and move forward on this process.

This is also a fitting moment to notify the Burgermeister of Inland Revenue (tagging @xpb ) that he may be required to join the team as well, for the purposes of setting up payment information. I will be reaching out with more information for him when it is available.

Thanks I will look for info on how to join the group.

Wittenberg / Re: The "Reform" Plan
January 30, 2025, 07:28:59 PM
Just adding my 2¢ -- likely mentioned in other parts previous in this thread but difficult to access on my phone currently.

Removing checks and balances is a bad idea.  Thus, any attempt to remove the Senate (such as what has been previously attempted with the Monarchy), will result in fractious and ultimately unproductive time spent on fundamental change that is inappropriate.
