Hugh

Thanks for the introduction to New South Scotland.  Should things progress to the point of an Embassy at the level of the Realm, it may be of interest to have a consulate in our fair province.

Cézembre - TalossaWiki

I noticed the map on your site - should you wish to delve into details of the isle see this map

Definitions of a consulate location to be debated in l'Etats de Cézembre for Zone Autorisée would be made via https://what3words.com/

Not sure if there was further discussion of this, would there be a designated section of beach or the beach in its entirety?

bumping this as I really should do some old fashioned postal mailing of deeds...

I support keeping the Senate with powers that exist today.  Perhaps the notable efforts being made in this activity could be redirected to other issues.

Quote from: Munditenens Tresplet on May 30, 2025, 08:21:50 AMWould this amendment actually end the push to dissolve the Senate and/or force the merger of provinces over their will? It seems like it would, and that would be a strong reason to favor it, given the political push in the other direction. (This isn't to say I'm in support of the amendment at this time, just that I continue to keep an open mind.)

As noted earlier in the thread, for my part I have accepted that the Senate will continue to exist for the foreseeable future; continuing to move its workings in a more democratic direction is something I like to think more people could agree on than outright abolition.

As to forcing provinces to merge, I'll admit to some confusion as to what you refer to. While I've been a strong proponent of reducing the number of provinces, and even trying to coordinate those on a "big-picture" level, I'm not sure if anyone is under the impression one can Organically force provinces to merge without their consent. I don't believe this is possible; the whole thing is down to negotiation and compromise, as with pretty much anything else in politics.

I would still argue that either of my proposed reforms to the Cosa -- including the Mixed-Member Proportional proposal, but the "Biproportional" plan as well -- retain a degree of provincial representation, since I see that some people view that as a sticking point (and I myself am in favor of retaining it to some extent), but do so in a more democratic fashion.

The current Senate is democratic -representing subgroups of citizens where the Cosa represents all citizens in general.  it provides important checks and balances.  Changing the Senate to representing all citizens in general removes this factor of balance.

I support the continued representation in the Senate of one resident of that province as senator.

At large representation is already handled by the Cosa.  Should there be more or fewer provinces in the future, then there will be more or fewer Senators.

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on May 29, 2025, 11:08:45 AM@xpb Mr. Burgermeister, I wanted to check with you on a question concerning advised donations to the Kingdom. If I make a donation to the Treasury is it possible to specify it be used by the BHAID? Or is any donation to the Kingdom automatically entered into a general fund?

The bank account is just a pool of funds, but perhaps this could be brought up in the Ziu where after a budget is approved, any individual could donate to expand a budget line item, or if the line item did not exist, to create said line item (should it meet with general approval in terms of title and purpose).

 Just replace () by []

Such a simple way to be part of a community of nice people!

I am a bit dense about this, not sure how to edit my signature to add this, tried looking under account settings but need more guidance.

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on January 27, 2025, 07:29:47 PM@xpb Connected to the first novel, have you had a chance to read the first novella in the series, Livesuit? I thought this was just as good.

I didn't know about that will have to look it up...

@xpb Did you ever end up reading Livesuit, the novella set in the Captive War universe?
Alas not yet, perhaps after my final exam on Monday...

Wittenberg / Treasury payments procedures
April 24, 2025, 10:12:39 AM
Payments to the Treasury of the Kingdom of Talossa should be sent to:

burgermeister@talossa.com

via PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo as those systems are connected to the updated bank accounts of the Kingdom to which the King and Finance Minister are also signers.  If the last 4 digits of an associated phone number are requested, those are 8328.

If desired, QR codes can be generated for those payment links. The Kingdom now holds a current (checking) and savings account with Wells Fargo - please contact me if you wish to make a direct cash or check deposit at a branch location.

It will be helpful to include a memo on the payment, AND to send a personal message to me here with the transaction ID. If you prefer not to make a memo on the payment system, then it is even more important to send the PM.  If invoice or request for payment is desired, please send a PM.

The stamps PayPal account and associated Ally bank account are depreciated and shall be closed in the coming months.

Quote from: Antaglha Xhenerös Somelieir on April 23, 2025, 02:23:38 AMThe payment is shown as pending until 30th April, but I have submitted the fee through PayPal today

I'm informed by Senator-elect @Eðo Grischun that his payment is also listed as "pending". Can the Burgermeister explain what's going on here?

PayPal when doing some bank transfers marks them as pending until they are processed by the bank - I see several pending transactions in the burgermeister@talossa.com PayPal.  Not all were accompanied by memos there or PMs here and while I can post a memo I won't for privacy reasons post sender info.  I just placed a recent transactions post in the civil service forum. https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=4018.0
