Wittenberg / Re: The University of Talossa Reimagined

So far three "departments" or "colleges"... Those interested in teaching, would you be willing to also "lead" your college as a Dean?

I would absolutely be in favor of re-adopting the "micronation" tag! I think it is important to the micronational community.

Wittenberg / The University of Talossa Reimagined
« on: September 22, 2021, 09:37:54 PM »
Azul,
I wanted to reach out to my fellow Talossans and get you opinion on something I have considered for quite some time… breathing new live in The University of Talossa.

I see it as a straightforward, useful tool in aiding citizens of the Kingdom in academic and professional development.

If a new and revised University was opened… would you be interested, what courses would you like to take, would you be willing to join the faculty and help develop courses?

Cheers,
Seneschal Davis, O.SPM

Wittenberg / Re: The Swearing in of Seneschál Davinescù before Justice V
« on: September 15, 2021, 09:48:24 PM »
Congrats (finally), PM!  And thank you, Justice V, for the verbal date/time stamp - a huge help for future archiving!

Please upload that video to the Library of Talossa.  Let me know if you need access.

Thank you kindly GV! Been a crazy process but I’m glad that’s done and over with.

The Cosa / Re: TERPELAZIUN ÀL SENESCHÁL / Question for the Prime Minister
« on: September 05, 2021, 06:02:54 PM »
I thank the Member for her question. Even though she supports the Government, she is carrying out a vital function which should be that of the Opposition in a parliamentary democracy; that is, keeping the Government on its toes.
I go through the various portfolios of my Government in alphabetical order.

CULTURE AND DEFENCE: we refer the Member to the relevant Minister’s extremely thorough reporting on progress with his manifesto commitments at https://docs.google.com/.../1jtqG9BbZ2nUEFmLIoHcl.../edit.... We also note the Minister’s recent initiatives in organising Talossan video-conference chats.

FINANCE: the Budget for the 56th Cosa is nearing completion, as the relevant Minister has already explained in response to another Terpelaziun. The Minister has also been making progress on the Eiffler commemorative stamp, and on investment options for the Kingdom's reserves; the latter will be the subject of a fuller report from the Minister himself.
The Minister, and myself on behalf of the Government, sincerely regret that the pressures of life outside Talossa have caused a delay and thus required the current month of recess.

FOREIGN: The Minister has been in contact with a number of micronations and have been considering appointments of ambassadors - not only per country, but per geographical region.

INTERIOR: the Interior Ministry in this term has revived La C’hronica, the main way in which “active Talossa” can keep “inactive Talossa” up to speed on what’s happening. The revival of the TalossAssistant program is currently on hold while the Ministry of STUFF finds out whether a proposed “random assignment” of interested citizens to prospectives is allowable under European privacy regulations. The Minister notes that he will be on leave for the next couple of weeks due to family issues.

JUSTICE: the Attorney-General has made a very rapid start to her responsibilities. Her bill to remove Wisconsin Law from Talossan law passed the First Clark and was not vetoed, and is therefore in force. A bill on improving the process of lawmaking has attracted worthwhile debate and amendments from other parties and is ready for the next Clark. She has also done her part to revive the Talossan Bar by sitting the bar exam herself, and is currently awaiting results. She is also involved in an embryonic cross-party initiative to restore the “Real Cosa” rules of 1997-2003, thus making progress on every single one of her commitments in the Coalition Agreement.

STUFF: The Minister of STUFF, like the Minister of Finance, is currently snowed under with extra-Talossan commitments. He promises to be more active after the middle of this month. Nevertheless, he has progressed in examining software solutions to upgrade the current National Database, and has been available to correct issues with the National Website as and when they come up.

Thank you again for your question.

Respectfully,
Þon Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM

Azul,

This is to formally announce that the upcoming Clark will be in Recess. This break will allow the Cabinet to finish getting squared away for the current term and the final touches to the Budget to be completed. We look forward to the pending State Opening and the term ahead.

Wittenberg / Re: Is Talossa boring and annoying?
« on: August 23, 2021, 01:58:36 PM »
For the record, I am 22 years old. I believe I was 15 when I joined. Talossa had no problem with activity or immigration pull back then in 2014 despite forums having been thoroughly outdated already. And there have been plenty of people my age who joined Talossa since then as well. How do you explain that?

It‘s true that Talossa will never get mainstream appeal. I just don’t think we need it.

EDIT: The biggest issue I see is that politicking, which has virtually always been the main pull into Talossa next to the language, is boring as hell. You become a member of a party, you get a safe seat in the Ziu, you vote shit up and down, that‘s it. Theres no interactivity there at all. There is no life whatsoever in the entire process, and I say this as someone who watches plenary sessions of the Bundestag for fun!!

Marcel,
I think you’re on the nose here but I pose to you this question. What is it you would want to do that you think would be interesting to others?

I want to see more activity and people enjoying all things Talossa… not just political stuff. I would love to see new options but I think one of the most important things is the new things that start organically.

Find an area you’re interested in and make something new! Even if not “my thing”, you’ll have my support!

Apparently the Seneschal is on vacation and thus presumably unavailable

No, the Seneschál is available and enthusiastic for all his official duties re: the State Opening; he only delegated the legislative stuff to me.

I am still very much around. I took a few days to go on a short holiday while interviewing with a University, but I am fully on board with moving forward. The issue is getting the King and the Op Leader together with me to officially get the ball rolling.
Where are we on this? Have the issues with the speech been resolved? Is scheduling happening?

He's had it for over a week. If he doesn't do something by Monday morning, I'll be forced to take the issue to the UC.

Would you consider an expansion of the PermUnderSec role to that of Permanent Under Secretary for European & African Relations? Still with the same duties currently discussed for Videoconferencing, but leaves the position open for future expansion without a name change

Wittenberg / An Apology
« on: July 05, 2021, 06:32:05 PM »
Azul,
I wanted to take moment and publicly acknowledge a stumble I took in trying to resolve a Coalition issue. Specifically, I came across a bit more forcefully to the leader of former Coalition partner TNC. In my attempt to come across seriously, to our partner… I came across as threatening.

This was not my intention but in my attempt at being as transparent as as possible, I wanted to acknowledge this stumble on my behalf and apologize publicly. As I said in my personal apology to their leader, I want us all to work together as a team for a better Talossa. That includes leaders at all levels admitting a screw up and working to correct it.

Further, I want to ensure all Talossans understand that, under my leadership… I encourage open communications at all times. If there is any issue, before it becomes totally out of hand… come talk to me. I welcome the opportunity to address problems as they arise as that is the core of effective leadership.

Thanks,
Txoteu Davinescu, O.SPM
