Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on August 26, 2024, 03:39:52 PMThe Rouge Elephant Herald is in the best position to know if a hatx to the GTA is possible for the Coroniçaziun; delaying the ceremony until summer seems feasible to me.  The end of June or July might make sense, in such a case?

What was the thinking about the REH on a name for his house?  The most obvious recent examples are Rouergue (based on historical family connections) and Lupul (based on surname) and Windsor (based on residence and cultural connections).  I'd assume that a starting point would be the simplest: El Ca Nordselvă.  Unless there's a historical connection to a known branch of nobility or a heritage residence?

-Dean

I really have no idea when a hatx to the GTA could occur. While I would love for my coronation to occur in person, plans will need to be made at some later time for in-person. A live, via Zoom event could definitely be planned. In some ways, I favor this approach as our citizens are so spread out around the world.

As for a House name, while I do have historical connections to the Stuart line of Scottish kings (I'm a 16th great-grandson of Robert II), it is so far back in the mists of history as to be little more than an interesting footnote. Naming my House after my current family name of Nordselva might be better.

I also would like the assistance of the Coletx in designing my new Arms. They should be quartered in a similar fashion to HM King John's, but I also envision them with supporters and a crown. I've done some research and most reigning monarchs (European) tend to place the arms over an ermine cape topped by a crown. I'm not sure if this is what the Coletx would want, however, and I'm open.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on August 26, 2024, 02:48:07 PMThank you to the Fulbright Fellow.  Yes, I believe that past precedent suggests that the Coletx should have a hand in the Coroniçaziun.

Let me first lay out some principles to which we should aspire, even if they might not all be practical.

I will provide my initial thoughts below on the excellent discussion began by The Fulbright Fellow and The Dean.

QuoteA monarch of el Regipäts should be crowned in el Regipäts.  This may not be possible right away, but it is entirely okay to delay the formal Coroniçaziun.  The king is invested with power by act of law, not through the ceremony itself.  Assuming that His Majesty's choice of successor is confirmed, we should inquire about when this might be possible.

I have no practical idea on when this could occur. During the school year travel is not really a possibility and after the summer I had, I don't really expect much next summer. Time will tell.

QuoteThe ceremony should be conducted in el glheþ Talossan.  While Sir Txec is familiar with el glheþ, I think he won't mind me saying that he is not fluent.  However, perhaps the oath and affirmations (eg, "éu detxeradréu" or the like) could be delivered thus.

I am not at all fluent in Talossan so obviously I would need help and some parts may need to be in English.

QuoteAll Talossans should be invited.  Obviously.  And it should be recorded for posterity.

This sounds like an excellent job for the Royal Archivist.

QuoteNo coronator exists in precedent, aside from maybe the king or their consort.  Probably not a religious figure, although I think Sir Txec's opinion should count a lot here.  The Squirrel King of Arms or Seneschal might be appropriate individuals to place the crown.

If the Squirrel King is unavailable, then by all means the Seneschal can do the actual crowning.

QuoteArmorial precedent should be observed.  The new king should choose the name of his house (probably with some assistance from the Coletx), an aspect of his arms should be quartered with the national arms as his new achievement (again with assistance from the Coletx), and he should choose (or retain) a personal badge for his household.

I've given some preliminary thought as to the name of my House, but I will need some advice and help, and I would like the help of the Coletx in quartering my arms. As I already have a badge I use, I may keep that one or may design something different. I'm not entirely sure just yet.

QuoteActing as Dean, I am ruling that the Coletx will discuss these matters as a whole and openly, unless the Squirrel King rules otherwise or when private discussions on individual aspects of the above prove practical.

You have my support on this as the Squirrel Viceroy of Arms.

Quote from: Miestră Schivă, UrN on August 25, 2024, 08:36:38 PMAgain, let's look at precedent from last time:

Quote from: Ián I Lupul on accessionWe and our heirs royal shall henceforth bear "Quarterly, 1 and 4 Talossa, 2 and 3 Lupul", or more fully "Quarterly, 1 and 4 argent the Chinese glyph Ben sable, 2 and 3 per fess azure and vert, a wolf salient argent armed and langued gules, and in sinister chief a rose argent charged with a heart gules". Supporters: "Representing Saint Perpetua and Saint Felicity, a Roman lady hair dressed and a Berber woman hair dishevelled, both proper crined sable vested argent each bearing a palm branch vert." Motto: "Cor Unum".

We shall make use, as badge, of "A rose argent charged with a heart gules".

We request and command our right-beloved Squirrel King of Arms, in consultation and collaboration with his College, 1) to advise with us concerning the addition of a crest to our achievement, but they are not to consider a bonacon even for a moment, 2) to record these devices in the Kingdom's Armorial, 3)...]

Yes, I expect my Arms will change from those of a Knight to those of a King. This is one of many details to be worked out.

I suppose the Government *could* take over if they're indisposed.

Baron Alexander will be taking over my duties as Squirrel Viceroy of Arms upon my confirmation. He might be a good one to speak with regarding any festivities. For my part, I was only pondering the change in my heraldry. I'll leave the Coronation bit up to the people.

This is good to know. I hope there will be some official transmission concerning other changes based on your ascension, Txec. Do you know yet what changes there will be to your heraldry?

I'm in the process of talking to people about my various offices as well as those I wish to serve on my Privy Council, among other things. I plan on formalizing things publicly more once I am confirmed

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on August 25, 2024, 05:33:30 PMThank you Miestra. I am incredibly excited about this transition. Genuinely excited for this moment in Talossan history.

You're excited, but I'm quite nervous. This is quite a transition for ME as well :-)

It is my pleasure to open call for bills of the September 2024 Clark.

Eventually, the clark can be viewed in real time here:

www.talossa.ca/files/cosa_vote_result.php?cosa=60&clark=2 (for the votes)

and here:

www.talossa.ca/files/clark.php?cosa=60&clark=2 (for the bills )

It is NOT too late to submit bills, of course, as you have OFFICIALLY until the morning of the 31st of this month, provided your bills have been in the Hopper before end of business day the 15th, of course. I will make the Clark on September 1st's morning and bills submitted up to a few hours before that will probably also be taken.

PLEASE note that in order to support a bill, you need to:

1 ) Be a Senator, the Secretary of State or the King
or
2 ) Have been nominated as a Cosa Member for the upcoming Clark BEFORE the 15th,

To vote on the Clark, you will once again have 2 options:

1 ) You will be able to vote in the Clark thread (which will be created later on the 1st of September), as usual. I will enter your votes in the DB.

2 ) You will be able to vote directly in the database, using your usernumber and DB password (which you can retrieve at: www.talossa.ca/files/login.php using the PSC of the election) or by login via Facebook (which retrieve manual activation on my part).

It is with great pleasure that I appoint as Deputy Secretary of State, Sir Lüc da Schir. Sir Lüc will be an invaluable addition to the Chancery and I thank him for his agreeing to serve in this vital role.

Quote from: Sir Txec dal Nordselvă, UrB on August 21, 2024, 07:05:58 AMUpon confirmation by the people in referendum, I will resign all my offices and party affiliations. I will appoint a deputy Secretary of State to conduct the said referendum as well.

Txec, I encourage you to consider appointing a deputy as a part of an orderly transition sooner rather later not just to conduct the referendum. I know this is something we've discussed in the past but, for such a vital office, there should be someone ready to step in on the resignation, incapacity, or absence of the incumbent. And I have privately proposed one respected citizen who could serve well.

@Miestră Schivă, UrN are there already plans underway for an official coronation ceremony assuming that the Ziu vote and referendum are successful?

Naturally this was one of the very first things I thought of after the King asked me privately last month to become his heir. I have no doubt that by the time the referendum is called a suitable deputy will be in place.

I have a rather long list going of details I must get to as this whole thing progresses, including what must be done if and when I am confirmed and become King.

I also have relayed your suggestion on to the Seneschal.

One area we are not doing terribly well in is engaging prospectives. We used to have a New Citizens Committee and every immigrant was assigned a mentor of sorts. I'm not sure we can do that with how many new immigrant threads there are, however.

I don't believe this must go to the CRL, as it is not legislation amending Lex or OrgLaw.
